Itâs big and simple
The 1.5 gallon is big. I was sooo hoping that it wasnât going to be a small bowl when it arrived. It looked exactly like the pics. The build was nice. It was a wayy better value to me than local, in person stores right now, and it was simple. You just plug it in lol. Iâm using outside at night for chickens. So far Iâve only used a few nights but the water wasnât frozen in the AM. My only add on, is that the cord coulddd have been made longer for my use but I just added an extension cord and was fine.

bought these for my chickens in the winter. I have temps that are well below zero and the water does not freeze. These are inside an unheated chicken coop and even in below zero weather, the water remains unfrozen and I heave seen no difference in my electric bill as these use very low wattage but work great.

PERFECT! Better than I hoped for!
I bought this off the recommendation of our local Fire Chief. It seems his wife also feeds the feral cats and he came by to check out our feral feeding station. When he told me he found a way to keep the water bowls from freezing on Amazon I was ON it!We opted for this bowl because of the heavy duty cord. Until I pay my electrician to upgrade my outdoor outlets, they can’t be used. This cord runs under my garage door, so the water is close to the foundation, but not inside the raised feeding platform as I had imagined it would be. I can tell you that the card fits under the garage door, does not affect the automatic closing/opening and is definitely “nibble” resistant.The size of the bowl is perfect for our needs. I have refilled it twice in the 5 days we have been using it, so I know the animals have found it and are using it. I didn’t want something SO deep and large that I would be finding a drowned mouse in it one morning. (Country living folks, never leave your buckets outside in a rain storm, what an awful day that was)So, today is 1/21/19 and it is currently 7 degrees outside in RI. We are suffering under that same brutal freeze that most of the East Coast is battling. I live on a hill, with the ocean breeze barreling up my street. For reference, my house is usually 3-5 degrees colder than my mothers on the other side of town farther from the coast. It gets COLD here, everything freezes. Even in direct sunshine my birdbath is a solid block of ice today.I bundled up and raced outside to take photos of the cat bowl. IT IS THAWED! My truck (sitting in the sunshine) is coated in ice and is parked 4 feet from the bowl, but the bowl that is sitting on the ground is thawed. For the sake of this review I even stuck my finger in the water for a photo, just to prove that there is no ice on it. (OMG that was SUCH a dumb thing to do!) Touching the plastic bowl I could feel it was much warmer than the outdoor temps, and much warmer than the garage door. It wasnt bath water soothing warm, but it wasn’t so cold I feared my skin sticking to it.As a crazy cat lady, I do not have enough stars to give this product. Absolutely one of my all time BEST purchases!

Great for Ducks and Chickens
I basically bought this large heated dog bowl with our ducks on mind as they have dunk their bills in order to digest their food. We have 2 ducks and 3 chickens and this has been a perfect solution to our winter water concerns! I had watched several videos where other chicken and duck owners had bought a cheaper heated dog bowl from another company and it didnât last through even a couple of months. Those unhappy people bought this heated dog bowl and a couple of them said they were on their second year using it. So, I took their advice and bought this one and it is a life saver! My only problem is that once in awhile, Ruthie Duck seems to think she needs to sit in it! Thatâs okay with me since she needs the water on her and I know Ruthie and Franklin Duck miss their swimming pool from summer.I believe this is the best heated dog water bowl!!!!

Bought this for stray animals that seems to come by our house. Mostly cats but since putting it out we have seen cats use it and foxes. So far it has seen -15C directly in the elements on our deck with no cover with no ice build up at all. Good product so far. Iâm also an electrician so the cord is good in these temperatures and still flexible with the metal protection which is a bonus.

We have been using this item for 2 winters now. My cats and neighbouring cats, squirrels and birds all agree it works great. Ice starts to form at around -15°C, mostly icy under -20°C. When the temperature is very low, we replace the ice with fresh water and it takes around 6 hours for ice to form again. So, yeah, it does the trick. The only thing we worry a bit is that the srping protecting the electric wire is starting to rust. Overall, a great value for the price.
