TLDR; my mattress became soft; developed lower back pain; this mattress pad is firm; lower back pain is gone now 👍Updated. 06.18.2024The lower back pain went away the first night and came back on the third/fourth night. I am using the extra firm side. I didn’t want to flip it and test out the other side because I have Velcro straps keeping them in place. Instead, I have two extra comforters that I put on top of the mattress pad, and now it is utterly perfect. No more back pain, the mattress is now firm but with some cushion. It’s not even a lot of cushion. It’s literally just two regular comforters on top of each other, and then placed on top of the mattress pad but it is plenty to finally give me a quality nights rest.100% recommend this mattress pad. Sure, it required a little extra work but it’s significantly cheaper to put in a little more effort than what it would’ve been to chance buying a new mattress.Original ReviewI have been waking up with lower back pain and it has been making my life significantly more difficult. I tried a few different pillows between my knees. I have also tried a wedge pillow, but you have to sleep on your back on it, and for the life of me, I cannot fall asleep on my back. I might end up on my back sometime in the middle of the night but when I am just trying to fall asleep, it has to be on my side. I didn’t want to buy a new mattress either. Mine is only 2-3 years old, and I’m not even a big guy. I’m 5’10, 150lbs.I probably spent about 3 hours going through Amazon reviews for a queen-sized mattress pad. I finally chose this one due to the reviews. There was another possibly good option, but all of their reviews came as a free product, which can make it significantly more biased. I also liked that this one has a firm and an extra firm side.One reviewed asked how you can tell which side is which. You can tell because the softer, quilted side is the firm side, and the extra firm side is the skidded side. I had to thoroughly review two of the images to make sure of it because I had the same question. You can also easily unzip the cover a few inches and you can see the colors of the foams being used; the grey foam will be the firm side and the white foam will be the extra firm side. The extra firm side is over twice the size of the firm side.I think it’s ridiculous people nowadays need a manual for everything. It’s a memory foam topper. Unroll it, let it sit for 24-72 hours and you’re good to go. I did appreciate the thoughtful gesture of supply a small cutter as some would use an actual knife and would ruin the topper almost immediately.There is a smell to it, but you expect this. It’ll eventually go away. If it upsets you that much, you can use fabric freshener like Febreze, to get rid of the smell. You won’t be spraying the actual foam, just the cover. The only other issue was its definitely bigger than the queen mattress. This seems to be a common theme when it comes to most mattress toppers, as I also read this in other reviews for other mattress toppers. I am definitely curious as to why.It’s not a huge deal though. The straps need to be re-designed. It would be better if one side connected to the other side and make it adjustable. Also, not a big deal either. It’s an easy fix by either putting it within the mattress encasement (gotta make sure it is big enough to fit the mattress and the topper in it) or you can just attack Velcro strips to the side you would prefer to use. Easy fix.As for the firmness, 100% firm. I love this already. I haven’t used it yet. I just got it delivered today but once I use it tonight, I’ll come back when I can to update the review. It’s very firm, the quality is definitely there. The only real negatives is the size and the straps but neither are a deal-breaker and at the end of the day, they are small sacrifices to make when it comes to your health.

Not that firm
Sinks in after maybe 3 months of usage. So it’s firm but not firm enough to sleep on all night because you will sink down a bit.

I rarely write a review but if this can help someone else, it’s worth it! My mattress is great but a little too soft making my neck and back hurt. Needless to say, I wasnt getting sleep. I have had this a few weeks now and the pain is gone and I sleep really well. Woohoo! It is definitely on the firm side -but not park bench- firm. Great purchase.
