Product Description
Your dog wants nothing more than to play with you and many dogs love to play tug of war; it’s a healthy display of their predatory nature. Tug of war provides great mental and physical exercise for your dog. It’s also a wonderful way for you to strengthen your bond with your fur baby, help them build confidence, and teach them self-control. As long as your dog is properly trained, you should have no qualms about playing this game together.
SodaPup has a wide selection of tug toys with tons of fun shapes, designs, colors and sizes for you to choose from; after all, variety is the spice of life for your dogs as well as yourself! All Sodapup toys are made in USA from the safest proprietary materials that are non-toxic, pet-safe, food-safe, and top rack dishwasher safe. Our products provide tremendous value because they’re built to last. Even though our tug toys are very durable, tug toys are not designed for heavy chewing, so don’t leave your dog alone with them.
While tug-of-war is fun, and there can be many benefits related to tug games, as with anything else, there are some situations in which tug-of-war may not be the best activity for a dog. Dogs that have a history of aggression (toward animals or humans) can often take tug games too seriously. In those cases, there are better options for games. High-arousal dogs that can’t settle down and tend to become over stimulated are also not the best candidates for tug games.
How to Play Tug-of-War in a Healthy, Safe Way
There are several steps to initiating tug-of-war with your dog in a safe way. To begin, the tug game should be initiated by you, and throughout the game, keep in mind that you are in control. This means if the dog appears to be over stimulated, obsessed, or is overly aggressive about grabbing the toy, you should take charge and end the game. In tug-of-war, the dog should always be well trained and under control enough that he will follow your command to release the toy. Keep in mind that some dogs, when happily playing tug-of-war, will begin to play-growl. As long as the dog’s tail is wagging, and it is clear that he is playing, the game can continue. If you sense that the dog is so intense that he won’t release the toy, it’s time for a break.
One of the most important things to know about tug-of-war is to always let the dog win. Also, if you are playing tug with a puppy, keep in mind that his jaws are not fully matured, and he still has baby teeth. You should only do very gentle pulling, if any at all, and keep the game short.
Keep in mind that when playing tug-of-war you want to protect the dog’s mouth and teeth. This means you should not use anything hard or with sharp edges (such as a big stick) when playing tug. Toys for tug games should be soft. Sodapup offers a wide array of all natural rubber tug toys as well as rubber toys with ropes attached for tugging. These are good, safe options that won’t hurt your dog.
Durability
We specialize in innovative toys for power chewers. SodaPup natural rubber toys are made with a proprietary power chewer compound called PuppyPrene. Our rubber toys come in three compounds: Original for most power chewers, Puppy (only available in pink) for the tender mouths of teething pups, and Magnum, our signature black formula for dogs that destroy everything! Note: not all pink toys are made for puppies. SodaPup nylon toys are made from our proprietary PETstrong material. Our nylon toys are super durable and designed to be one size-fits-all: thin enough for the smallest chewers yet large enough for bigger dogs. While nearly all of our toys are made from nylon or natural rubber, we do have a few toys that are made from TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), which is a form of synthetic rubber.
Safety
Safety is our top concern and that’s why we have developed the safest non-toxic pet toy materials on the market that are also Food-Safe, BPA- and phthalate-free. Our toys are also dishwasher safe (top rack), making clean-up simple. Furthermore, our proprietary nylon and natural rubber materials have high tear strength to resist destruction.
Made in USA
We understand that we live in a global economy, but we also believe that if our products can be made at home, then we should produce them here. Manufacturing overseas exploits cheap labor, lowers standards for the planet, and compromises quality control. As a veteran-owned business we believe in keeping jobs in America. We believe it results in higher quality products that are produced ethically and responsibly.
Not all dogs, and not all dog parents are alike. At SodaPup, we’ve created unique collections to appeal to different audiences. Our brands include USA-K9 (inspired by military objects and built to withstand the demanding use of professional K9 handlers in law enforcement and the military), Industrial Dog (inspired by American tradesmen and women), Spotnik (inspired by dogs in space), MuttsKickButt (inspired by iconic American objects) and, of course, SodaPup (inspired by our favorite iconic American junk food). We’ve also launched a healthy dog treat brand called Dogtastic. Like our toys, our dog treats are made in the USA and made from only human-grade ingredients. Most of our treats are gluten-free, sugar-free, soy-free and salt-free. Your dogs will love them, and they work beautifully inside our wide array of treat dispensers and treat puzzles for dogs.
At SodaPup we believe that our choices define us. We’re not just a company driven by the bottom line. We’re committed to doing business in ways that are good for people and the planet, not to mention your dog. All our products are manufactured in the USA where we can ensure the integrity of our materials, our process and ultimately our quality. Our toys are built to last so that your hard-earned dollars go farther, even if you have a four-legged toy destroyer in your life!

A couple of weeks in and my brother’s dog hasn’t destroyed it yet.
My brother has a young Mountain Cur a little over a year old who seems to tear up any toy he can get his hands on. Firehose toys, he rips at the seams, stuffed animals, he has the floor covered in fluff, etc…Well, one day, my phone managed to hear me talk about dog toys tearing up and because Facebook uses the mic in this manner to recommend ads, I got an ad for bullymake boxes. I didn’t want to spend 40 dollars on a box, so I started looking at the toys from previous boxes and came across the USA K-9 grenade. Saw that they have different colors that have different durability ratings, so I tried looking for a black grenade, couldn’t find a standalone treat holder grenade in Black Ops Rubber, just these with the ropes attached. Ended up buying this one and gave it to him. My brother told me that he’d probably end up flailing it by the rope and hitting himself with it. Well, for a while, he didn’t. He’d chew to his heart’s content and not leave very much marking in it. One day, however, he did grab it by the rope and start shaking it like he would a squirrel, and he shook it hard enough that the rope dislodged from the grenade, temporarily turning it into a projectile. Luckily it hit their fireplace and not a tv or some glass decorations or anything of that sort. That’s one thing you should take note of, hopefully your dog doesn’t play in the same room with a bunch of breakable objects if they do this kind of thing. That’s our story with it.If you’re wanting a summarized review, here’s what I’d give.Durability 9/10 – that rope detaching from it took away a point, but if it were on just the rubber grenade, I’d give it a perfect score.Aesthetic 10/10 – I thought this looked very detailed for a dog toy in this price range.Appealing to pet/entertaining 10/10. – He gets a kick out of how unpredictable the bounce is on this toy.Safety 7/10 – rope can come off if flung around enough, leaving a washer rattling inside of it.Price 9/10 – This particular size has a good price, but the next size up (which I wanted to buy) is almost 20 dollars. I’m glad I purchased this one instead of the XL one, though because it fits my brother’s dog’s mouth just fine.Overall 9/10 – considering this dog can tear up near about any toy in under an hour, I’m impressed with the quality to price ratio. I’d definitely buy another one when this one gets to the point to where it’s a choking hazard for him.

Endless fun
Our puppy has enjoyed these pull toys for almost a year now, definitely one of his favorite toys and super durable!

I recommend you buy this for playing tug!
This is solid rubber so I would not recommend you leave it on the floor for your dog to chew on all day. They can chew on it a little bit here and there. Works great for playing tug! My dog always wants to pull on the same part Iâm going on. Haha Itâs almost a bit too long, but it might work better for a bigger dog (mine is only 35 pounds). I think itâs a great toy for playing tug. I would recommend it to friends. Make sure you remove the little rubber tag on the top before letting your dog play with it because they will chew it off and swallow it.

Great for very aggressive chewers
My dog is a very, very aggressive chewer. He also very enthusiastically loves new toys. We received this toy today, I washed it, and filled it with freeze dried liver treats. He chewed on for two hours straight and this is what it looks like now. It might seem bad that there is damage after only two hours but the wasnât expecting it to last 30 seconds. So, itâs a great toy.

FAVORITE TUG
This is one of our favorite tugs.I bought it when my dog was a puppy and he’s nearly 2 now, with it in amazing condition! It’s a durable, fun, great tug toy to have in your collection!
Candyce –
Be careful!
Rope didn’t last long. And it had a washer inside that came out while my dog was playing with it so be careful your dog doesn’t ingest that! Definitely a safety issue. After the rope and washer are no longer a factor, the leftover part still functions as a toy.

Total Rip-off
I was looking for a ball with rope for my Mal and decided to try something cute and different.I ordered this toy from SodaPup for my dog but received mislabeled junk half the size of the original toy instead. The red dye in the rope will bleed if wet and transfer to your hands or your dogâs mouth. Huge red flag!!!My Mal still wants to play with this toy but as someone who actually spent money on it, Iâm very disappointed with quality of the item as well as customer service. I tried contacting the seller to see if they would be willing to make it right but no one is answering the phone either.I will never again purchase anything from SodaPup, weâll stick with Kong from now on. Save your time and money and purchase your dog toys from a reliable seller.

These soda pup toys are just awesome! My dog is a power chewer and also loves to play fetch. These toys are perfect and not easily destroyed, definitely recommend

This is an amazing toy, my dog will destroy any toy we give him in a matter of days or weeks if we are lucky. It has been a year since I’ve given this toy to my dog and although he doesn’t use it all the time it is still in great condition.
Gally Gap –
This is my dogs favourite toy, she always chooses it from her box of toys. It has lasted well so far with daily tugging sessions. Itâs not show signs of wear. I havenât let her just sit and chew it as she might be able to chew through it eventually. Iâd recommend this as a good tugger toy.

Edited. At about 6 months and considering medium size breed she loves to play with this. As with any toy give it some time for them to get used to. Highly recommended as it does not start disintegrating with all the chewing and tight grip in mouth for tuggingInitial reviewProbably best suited for adult large breed dogs. Nothing pup about this. My large breed pup barely plays with it as itâs too heavy to hold in the mouth.Edited – now she loves it. At 6 months she brings it around to indicate playtime. Not for a small dog still. Worth it and like any other toy give it some time
Micky Bittoun –
My Dog ate through the hole in about 2 seconds (and he is a little puppy). So the purpose for the product was useless as you can not put treats inside to keep them entertained. Seller would not refund because they said it was still useable.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
