Customers say
Customers find the paw hoof protectors effective and useful for their needs. They stay on well and are waterproof. However, some customers report issues with the fit being too tight or too loose, depending on the dog’s leg circumference. Opinions vary on ease of putting them on, durability, value for money, and warmth.

Finally a booty that can fit my dog without her kicking it off!
This product is amazing for small dogs especially who can wiggle their way out of other boot types because of their very thin legs. They are super easy to put on and fit well and stay on well. At first my dog was confused but once she went outside in the snow with them on to go potty she loved them. They kept her paws dry and pretty warm. And as soon as we came back in we were able to just roll them off clean them up and set them aside because they are reusable! The rubber is a nice thick quality. They may look a little goofy but they work well.

Beware – UPDATED
I donât think Iâve ever given a one star rating before, but this product deserves it. I bought a set of these for my male Belgian Tervuren, about a 70 pound dog. I had him stand on paper, drew lines in front of his claws and just behind his rear pad, measured the distance (3 5/8 inches) and followed the fitting advice to order the LARGE size. This size is for Akitas, Labs, etc.The balloon part is fine – there is enough room for his paw. HOWEVER (big problem alert), the neck of the boot is so tight that a) it takes two people to put it on his paw and b) it hurts his leg because of the constriction – he holds his paws up and tries not to stand on them, and c) itâs very difficult to pull the boots off the paws once you finally get them on because the neck is SO tight.Perhaps I got a defective set, but this product is of zero use for me. I have no idea what these were made for – baby giraffes? Seriously, the ankles on these things are so much too small that itâs laughable.UPDATE: I wrote to the Pawz company about this but nobody has responded. I wanted to say to those of you who have the same problem we did that if you cut the tops of the boots off just below the lip it becomes workable, at least it did for us. The boots can then be put on by one person (although women might have more trouble than men due to the hand strength issue – I’m a guy and I didn’t have any trouble) and the boots do not fall off on a long walk. I can’t speak to how they stay on with active play or work because we don’t do that with this older dog. I am leaving my review at one star because this is an issue the company really needs to address, even if it is in such a basic way as to inform customers via some text on the label. The boots do seem to work once you alter them, and when they work they should get a better review than I am giving them, but…they are really awful straight out of the box and the company’s response to my inquiry was terrible, as in non-existant. Pawz needs a wakeup call, so my rating stands.Just know what you are getting in to.

Literal life savers
My 14 ½ year old Miniature Schnauzer’s toe beans had become so slick that, in combination with our hardwood floors, getting around the house became like walking or standing on ice for him. He started to give up and just lie around, which would only hurt his aging joints more.I tried numerous products to get him traction and never had any luck. Slipper socks for dogs, stickers for his pads, various nail caps, etc… Most didn’t work at all. Some worked but wouldn’t stay on. Then I found Pawz.I cannot praise these enough. The first round, I discovered that, though they gave him traction, they were a bit snug around the top band and due to the booties being rubber, his feet got hot and swollen. But they WORKED and were very cost-effective. So I made 2 modifications to fix that: 1) I cut off the top band. The neck of the booties are snug enough to hold them on his leg without the tight band. And 2) When I prepare a new set for him, I cut a few tiny holes in the side that will sit on top of his foot. That way, his feet can breathe, but he still gets the water resistance on the part that touches the ground. BINGO. This made them perfect. Now, my little guy is getting around so well that he is playing again and has even gotten the zoomies several times again! So, don’t be afraid to modify these to fit your pet’s needs. Each set lasts about a week before needing to be replaced (I take them off when we go to bed every night), and each box comes with 3 sets.IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: I highly recommend getting the “tool” the maker invented to put these on. Doing it without the tool is possible (even for dogs like mine who hate having their feet touched), but only with one person holding the dog and the other putting on the booties. With the tool, you can do it solo.

So close but yet so far
Out of all the bad reviews I read on here for tightness on the upper part/opening of the balloon, I didnât see any comments about how easily they rip. Iâll get to the point. A few great things to say are, the dogs donât mind them as much since they can feel the ground and they donât necessarily shift around or slide off. Awesome for rainy muddy days so the mud doesnât get tracked all over the house. Great concept, again, poor execution and quality. My dog did not have a problem with the tightness around his leg part. I purchased extra large for an 80lbs Old English Sheepdog.Cons: You need 2 people to put them on. You will not be able to open the balloon and ease their paw in a tight opening. They will rip as you are putting them on with just opening them. I ripped 4 in one day. They are not adjustable. With just these 2 MAJOR flaws, I can not recommend or repurchase. They are pretty much disposable. The company probably (irresponsibly) knows this since they donât make any mention on how many come in a pack and why. They will become a one time use and 2 if youâre lucky.
