Security
I purchased 3 for my 3 adopted kitties. I find overall these are good for the money. My only concern is the plastic inserts that hold the metal gate after a week of opening and closing they are getting weak. I would like to keep the 3 since everyone is happy. Please send new inserts if possible. Thank you

Do NOT buy your pet this product! You might lose your pet!
Thisâll teach me to buy a pet carrier online. That was dumb. Never again. If you buy this product, at best you can have the fun of ordering parts that were either a) missing upon arrival or b) meant to replace dangerously defective components (see the picture portraying the loose bar on the top door). At worst, you can have the ultimate joy of almost losing your pet, because this product is so shoddily put together that they can bash the door right out and escape from their carrier! :DThat was the abridged version. For the full version of my nightmare experience, pull up a comfy chair, get a snack, and proceed below! One of the four door handles was missing, and the ordered part would not come in time for my kittyâs vet appointment. I had no other carriers available, so I had to hold my breath and hope to GOD that the damn door would not open and let my cat out. There is a six hour time difference between where I live and the main facility that sells these carriers, so that meant that I had to wait until 3 AM my time before I could place a call, where I talked to a pretty unfriendly and curt female operator who couldnât have cared less about the fact that the part was missing, or for the risk that its absence posed to my kitty at all. Whatever, I thought, at least I got the missing part in the mail. When I put the carrier together, I noticed that one of the bars on the grill of the top door was ajar and poking upwards. I wrapped electrical tape around it and forgot to order a replacement grill upon my first call. I call the same number again and this time got a much friendlier, more helpful and concerned representative who requested that I send a picture of the defective part as proof, among other information. Okay, fine, got that done.Keep in mind that it is weeks before I get everything I need to make a complete, functional (HA!) carrier. The problem is, it was hell to assemble all of the parts onto the top grill in the first place, such as the handle and the two latches, because I discovered that the space between the bars on the grill is NARROWER at one end than the other (quality control issue, check). I also have carpal tunnel in both hands, so that added to the fun. Now I have a vet appointment for my other kitty, and the night before, I take off the top door and attempt to take off the handle and latches from the defective grill. No can do, it was tightly on there, and its fate is sealed. No worries, the electrical tape is still holding, so I figure thatâs a minor problem. Here is the finale, the coup de grace youâve all been waiting for. I put my kitty in the carrier for his appointment and test the door to make sure it is securely fastened and will not open. I take the carrier out of the door and begin the descent down the 15 steps. On the very first step, my kitty head-butts the front of the cage, sending the ENTIRE DOOR flying off down the stairs! He launches himself out of the carrier and proceeds to hurtle at lightning speed down the stairs, and is only stopped when my mom (GO MOM!) expertly grabs him at the bottom step. The vet visit is ruined, and because I am now late I have a strike against me according to my vetâs late cancellation policy. Three strikes and Iâm out, which means that I can no longer make appointments and will have to pay $130 in order to make emergency visits. But hey, thatâs a TINY price to pay when you consider that a) I came REALLY close to losing my kitty, and b) in the mad scramble to retrieve my kitty, I could have fallen down the stairs and my mom couldâve also been seriously injured.Upon returning to the house in complete and utter defeat, I saw that the bottom latch on the lower right end of the door was hanging down loosely. I slap it back up. The picture where you see the latch flush to the bottom is how itâs supposed to look, while the other picture is how I found it.If your hobby is wasting $33.50 and then waiting until 3 am to call customer service in order to patiently and kindly talk to a crabby representative to order parts only to almost not only LOSE your cat but also potentially fall down the stairs, thereby rendering all of your efforts to salvage this shoddy piece of trash a laughable, pathetic, and most of all FUTILE endeavor, then by all means, go ahead and have fun!

Beware, may lack crucial parts
I bought this pet carrier only to find, during assembly, that there were no hinges for the front door included in the packaging. I arranged for a return and ordered another, hoping it would arrive with all the parts. Alas, the second was also lacking the door hinges. I called the manufacturer and was told it was a known problem, and was somehow due to Amazon’s repackaging of the product. Whether that was true or not, Midwest mailed hinges the same day and they arrived very quickly. I’m very pleased with the carrier. I like that the door can be opened from either side, and find the fact that the top opens especially useful for getting a reluctant puppy inside.

Quite secure and sturdy carrier
We bought this to transport two medium sized rabbits, and it seems quite secure and well suited for that purpose. The front door can open in either direction. Just need to make sure that all latches are properly secured before lifting.

Good price but sub-par quality
I use many cat carriers and this one was a good price, so I tried one. The design has flaws. The top and bottom parts are strong, but the parts that hold them together are plastic and there are too few fasteners so I had to add zip-ties to bind them together. The front door opens okay, but the top door connections are also week. The two little buttons that turn to lock the top are so hard to fasten and so small that I can’t use the top as a door. I had to also zip-tie the top shut since the handle to carry it–with animal inside adding to the weight–is there on top and would pop open using the ‘lock’ buttons alone. If you want a top-opening carrier, get one with a better locking system.

Spacious and good quality
As I read many reviews I was skeptical but after purchasing I’m glad I did. Yes I was missing hardware, but a 2 minute phone call to support and they are shipping me the missing pieces. They look great, they are big and spacious for my cats, and if installed correctly work as they should. Easy to clean and easy to get your pet in and out from 2 openings.

Poor design
We bought the crate for a trip. The ratings were pretty good and the price was good. However, it was very diffiicult to assemble, especially the top section. Once we finally got it assembled the top part with handle would not stay on. Since we didn’t need the top to open we ended up zip tying it on. The front door kept coming off since the bottom hinge knobs would not stay on. It was a pain. I think it will be ok at home for occasional indoor use. I would not purchase again.

Please do not buy this carrier – Will fatigue and pet will escape
I bought this carrier to nebulize my cat, but I would never use it to transport an animal. I have worked in rescue for several years and when these came out years ago we tried them as an affordable option. They are a disaster. The plastic is not terribly robust and the plastic tabs that open and close the door fatigue and as a result fall out of their holes and move freely in & out of position. I have also seen the back portion of the carrier fail and fortunately caught it before the cat escaped. It may not happen right away but believe me it will happen. Carriers can be expensive and your best option at this price point is Amazon’s carrier which is the carrier the shelter purchased when needed. Its a bit more difficult to put together but your fur baby will also be safe for years to come. Please please do not buy this carrier

I like that there are top and side doors – thatâs good for an anxious kitty that does not want to get in.

The plastic bolts and latches for the doors came loose inside the Amazon box and one of the plastic bolts for the door was missing. There was supposed to be 4 but had only 3. The overall quality is not great, the plastic is thin.

Not very Happy with this item as the Door Locks will not hold the Door closed .They snap in as a push fitting that holds the hinges of the door and slide out and fall down causing the door to fall and opens. IT LOOKS AS IF WHEN YOU LOCK THE DOOR SHUT IT PULLS THE HING PINS OUT allowing the door to fall and open.Other then that it is very well built but not usable if door will not stay locked.Well send back if I can not find another way to hold Door Closed and stay locked

I bought this for my kitty so sheâd have something bigger than what she came home in 3 yrs ago and for taking her to the vet. Itâs cheaply made the door always comes off. It does have a convenient top load though making it easier to get her in it. I wouldnât recommend it just my opinion though
