Douglas Kiki Ragdoll Cat Plush Stuffed Animal

Adorable, but be aware of potential size discrepancy
I purchased the Douglas Kiki Ragdoll Cat stuffed animal because I had purchased the Douglas Puzzle Calico Cat stuffed, a few years prior, and loved Puzzle’s fairly realistic features — especially the ‘life-like’ size of an adult cat being one of these features. Fast forward a few years later, and I thought I’d order another Douglas kitty stuffed animal, and I chose Kiki. I checked the Amazon listing for the size of Puzzle against Kiki’s listed size on Amazon, and both were noted as 19″. I just received Kiki, today, however, and this stuffed animal is considerably smaller than Puzzle. So, I got out the measuring tape to compare. Measuring the further point of the front paw to the furthest point of the back paw (measured as stuffed animals are poised laying flat on their bellies), Puzzle measures a little under 19″ — not including the tail — and with the tail (to the furthest end of the tail), Puzzle’s measurement is a little under 24″. Kiki’s measurement from the furthest point of the front paw to the furthest point of the back paw is a little under 15″ — and with the tail (to the furthest end of the tail), Kiki’s measurement is a little under 19″. The above all said, I checked back to both ads for Kiki and Puzzle on Amazon (I purchased both on Amazon) and both ads read “Measures 19″ (48 cm) long.” So I suppose the ads are correct in that both stuffed animals do measure 19″, in some capacity, but the 19″ measurement is different as Kiki has a TOTAL length of 19″ (further point of the front paw all the way back to the end of the tail), whereas Puzzle measures 19″ in length from the furthest point of the front paw to furthest point of back paw, NOT including the tail. I thought I should point this out as I was purchasing Kiki assuming the 19″ size would be equivalent to what Puzzle’s size was, but Kiki is much smaller than Puzzle. Puzzle is closer to the size of an adult cat (which is what I was going for), whereas Kiki is more like the size of juvenile kitten. I hope that my experience will help others to understand what you’re buying with the 19″ size notation on the ad. Please see picture I’ve attached for reference. Thanks!

Fairly realistic looking, but small
This is a decent stuffed animal, but a titch smaller than I was hoping for. It’s made well, and the fur varies on different parts of its body, which adds interest. I wanted something fairly realistic looking for my mother-in-law, who lost her dear, similar looking kitty several months earlier. To that end, it’s not bad, and it has a nice weight & feel to make holding it very nice. It came tucked into a clear plastic bag and was a bit squished, but it fluffed up well without too much effort. All said, it brought a delighted smile to Mom’s face when she opened her gift, so it was a great purchase.

Touches my heart
Three months before my mom broke her hip I had gotten her this cat as her dementia was setting in and she was getting obsessed with stuffed animals. She loved it. She loved holding it in her lap and loving on it. After her broken hip I brought it to rehab and then her skilled nursing where she died. Now my father (they were married 70 years) has it and it sits on his stand by his chair looking at him and it brings him so much comfort. I’m so glad I got it. It’s so sentimental.

Soft, cuddly, and cute!
Very nicely made stuffed animals. Kiki is adorable…. there is a bit of balance and weight to it. Nice shape. Soft fur. Cute face. I actually was not pleased with the one I got from Amazon. It most likely had been stored badly and was all matted. I contacted the seller – 88 Market Street…they promptly informed me it was not their problem to contact Amazon because they fulfill the orders…. So, yes, they responded, but didn’t seem overly concerned that the item was damaged and it was Christmas time. No one wants a damaged toy at Christmas. So I contacted the Douglas Toy Company in Keene, NH. I wanted to find out if there was some way to smooth the fur out safely so as not to damage the kitty. They were so beyond wonderful to deal with! The person I spoke to said to let her go down into their stock there tomorrow where they have them and to let her find the best one she could and she would call me back. And she did! I would highly recommend Douglas Toys to anyone! I didn’t mean for there to be so much written about the company compared to the item review…but Doulgas deserves the accolades!

Gift for someone who loves cats but can no longer have them with her. Kiki is very realistic and so the 60 year old new owner is very happy. I think it is a good therapy cat for people with desire for the tactile qualities and appearance of a real cat.
