Awesome Cat Flea Comb!
This product was received as part of a promotion. I got this to have for our two cats after treating them topically with flea medication. I had tried a traditional âanimalâ flea comb, but the comb was not long enough to comb under their thick fur. I wanted something longer and more sturdy. This comb is long enough to comb through their thick, long fur. It doesnât miss any fleas. What I do is get a wet paper towel & begin combing through the catâs fur from head to back end. When I get done on a ârowâ, I quickly check for fleas. Theyâre hoppity little things so I get the paper towel on them as quick as possible. I then fold the paper towel over and do the next row. I do the entire circumference of the cats doing this method. I clean (sanitize) the comb in between animals to prevent cross-contamination (i.e. eggs, etc.). I like this has a little âmagnifierâ on it. Itâs not the clearest view, but it is okay. It has a great rubber feeling grip on it so oneâs fingers wonât slip while combing. Overall, this comb has been a life saver for helping our cats resolve their flea issue.

Works great
My kidâs teacher informed the parents that a kid in class had lice. I didnât see any lice in my kidâs hair, but I checked by running my catâs flea comb through his hair, then wiping the comb off over a container of slightly soapy water, then looking at the apparent dandruff in the water with the magnifier on my phone, and yep. Dandruff doesnât usually have legs. Also, either lice are smaller than they used to be when I was a kid, or my eyes are getting worse, since I canât see them without magnification.Apparently my kid gave them to the whole family (except my bald husband, lucky him) so I googled solutions. The lice-killing shampoos I remember from my childhood donât work anymore, since the lice have evolved resistance to them.I saw some advice to kill lice with oil, but the advice varied a lot. A lot of people say to use olive or coconut oil. I donât see why youâd need to use an expensive oil like that. If the important thing about it is that itâs oil, meant to smother the lice, a cheap oil like canola should work. Different websites said to leave it in for all different lengths of time, from half an hour to eight hours, to smother the lice, and then comb them out.I had multiple louse-ridden heads to experiment on, and I can report that lice survive being soaked in canola oil for at least four hours, and no one in my family has patience to sit with oily hair for longer than that. Also, wrapping oily hair in plastic doesnât work to protect furniture, since oil drips out from around the edges. Before I got this nice louse comb, I tried using my catâs flea comb, which actually worked pretty well on people who donât have much hair, but the flea comb tines were too short to work well on my daughter, who has a lot of hair. This comb has nice long tines, so I can fit lots of hair in every stroke. What worked for my family was this: Put oil in hair. It doesnât really matter how long you leave the oil in since lice apparently can live for at least four hours, maybe more, without breathing. Easily run this louse comb through the nice slick, oily hair. After every stroke, wipe the comb on a paper towel. See little dark lice slowly crawling around the paper towel. (Even my old eyes can see them moving, although I canât see the legs theyâre crawling with.) Victoriously say âGot em!â since the alternative is to say âEw!â and weâre trying to keep the mood cheerful. Aspiring entomologists can examine the lice with the magnifier if theyâre so inclined. Keep combing and wiping until five minutes or so go by without finding any more lice. Then wash the oil out of your hair with dishwashing detergent if necessary, then shampoo. Throw the lousy paper towels away. Also wash hairbrushes, sheets, pillowcases, hats, hoodies, etc of course. Thereâs no need to throw anything away or work really hard to sanitize things. If you set something aside for two weeks, any lice on it will starve, and even any louse eggs will hatch and the baby lice will starve.Much to my surprise, one round of this seems to have worked for my family. Weâve been monitoring by skipping the oil step and just combing hair with this comb every couple of days. After every stroke, I wipe the comb off over a container of slightly soapy water to catch any lice. One of my kids found one louse, but thatâs it.Iâm not convinced the oil was really necessary. It did make really long hair easier to comb without breaking it, and I think it makes it harder for the lice to hold on, so I can comb them out more effectively, and it sticks them to the paper towel to make them easier to dispose, but this comb does work all by itself to remove lice. I donât miss the lice-killing shampoos of my childhood at all, since this comb works great.

Oh… So this is what a premium lice comb looks like
I’ve (unfortunately) had to use one of these before, but it wasn’t nearly this nice. Had I known about this, I would have ditched the cheap plastic thing most kits come with and gotten one of these.PROs:- Cool magnifying glass (I didn’t even realize it came with that)- Very sturdy construction- Spiraled bristles make cleaning super easyCONs:- None reallyLike a lot of parents, I’ve had to use lice combs that come in the little kits you get from the drug store. The only silver-lining was that after I had the comb, I started realizing how useful it is for other things. My son has a lot of cradle-cap/eczema and it is sometimes easier to just take a comb and help work some of the flakes out. I found these types of combs work best on his ultra-fine hair without causing discomfort or damage. This comb in particular has been fantastic since the design of the whole thing is, bluntly, overthought in the best ways possible. The spiral knurling on each bristle really does help clear the comb and the metal body gives you something to grip without your hand cramping. The additional grip-texture is also a nice touch. As for the magnifying glass, admittedly I didn’t even see in the description that this was a big feature. It’s really clear. When I first got the package, I just kind of assumed it would be some cheap thing but it is smooth and has great clarity. Just out of curiosity I used it to look at the roots in my son’s hair and it’s crystal clear.Honestly, whether you are dealing with lice or not, this should be in every parent’s home kit. When the lice-thing happens (if it happens), you won’t want to fiddle around with Amazon listings or heading to the store. This can help you at least begin the process of searching and dealing with the issue and this comb looks like it’s meant to last.

Seems okay but it came with a scratch so that part is useless. 🙁
Another Boring Couple –
I got this comb because my kid came home with a note that someone has lice and I was not going to take any chances!Got this comb and I combed through her hair and thankfully, we didn’t find anything. This comb made it easy to do it. It was also quick and pain free because no kid has the patience to sit there forever while you look through their hair. This was my first time ever having to look for nits or lice and the little magnifying glass definitely helped to ease my anxiety when I would find a flake of skin on my kid’s scalp.Definitely recommended to have, just for the peace of mind alone.
The Real Reviewer –
I previously had a different lice comb which I thought worked very well until I bought this one. This is the best lice comb you could ever get, there is even a magnifying glass on it! 5/5 Stars would recommend people to buy this product.
