If the stick is too small, replace it with a new one to avoid the risk of choking.

Do it! My kitties went nuts for this stuff
Its always a gamble whether or not your kitty will like the toy, or the box the toy came in better. But let me tell you, I opened up these bad boys (built up the suspense of what was inside by shaking it around as I would with treats) and let my cats have a sniff and they were very intrigued at the start. A good sign!I had to give each one their own stick because my black cat immediately claimed the one I had put down, munching and gnawing on it just like a dog with a bone! Soon 2/3 cats were rolling on the ground, gnawing and playing! It is such a hit! My third cat needed a little help to understand that she can chew on it, but she got the hang of it.The product doesn’t have a smell upon opening and they don’t shed too badly, either (unless you break them apart like I ended up doing). The kitties seemed to get their jollies in, an effect similar to catnip, and I love that it has dental properties (of course, I cannot confirm that, but I do hope that part is true). Though like catnip, they lost interest once they stripped the bark. Then I snapped it in half to release the scent some more and they went back at it.It doesn’t keep your cat busy all day like a dog would be with a big bone, but it did provide my kitties with over an hour of fun and they are all fat n happy afterwards 🙂 I will be keeping these on hand from now on!

great for rough chewers, but be careful
These sticks are very useful! One of my cats has always been a biter/gnawer. She is extremely rough on any cardboard boxes lying around and loves to chew on anything she can. I started giving her these sticks as a distraction whenever I notice her chewing on something I donât want, and she usually goes for it. The sticks are around 6-7 inches long and are very lightweight. My other cat is also attracted to their smell, and neither of my cats usually is affected by catnip, so this might be a good alternative if you have picky kitties like mine :)Two things to be aware of:1: The sticks will break and splinter with extended rough use. I was trying to sleep one night and heard cracking noises, turned on the lights and saw that my 8 month old kitten had bit the stick so hard that it broke into separate pieces. The structure of the sticks is long fibers, so if the cat bites hard enough it will flatten out with different pieces at the edge. Not a big deal, just prepare another stick and switch it out. Be sure to swap the sticks quickly if you notice that theyâre broken for the safety of your cat. The âsplintersâ are pretty large so they arenât really dangerous for humans living in the same areas.2: The bark needs to be scraped off before giving to the cats. Iâm not sure if the bark is safe for cats to ingest, but regardless it is flaky and will be swallowed if not removed, so I imagine that could cause issues. I just use the sharp edge of some scissors like a knife and carve it off over a trash can. The bark comes off pretty easily, so itâs not a terrible inconvenience. I think my cats like the smell of it right after it has been stripped, so it immediately gets played with once I give it to them.3: The sticks are pretty small, so they will get lost easily under furniture or appliances. Depending on their shape, they might also easily roll around on hard surfaces, which could make for an excellent chasing toy or a safety hazard for people possibly slipping on them. Thankfully they are very lightly colored once you strip the bark, so they should stand out against a typical hardwood floor.Overall, I have been very satisfied with these sticks and will be repurchasing once I run out.

My cats aren’t interested.
Two adult male cats chewed on then for about a minute and are no longer interested.

Better than the catnip balls, but not much
She bats it around and, once in a while, even chews on it. Not one of her favorites, tho. But she’s young and I don’t know if she’s ever been provided “regular” cat toys/treats.

My 3 cats love them!
All 3 cats love them. In fact our shiest cat comes out more now! Sheâs more relaxed and she loves the stick. They chew on them and they last for a long time. Just remember to peel back the layers to expose new layers and smells.

I almost called the police on my cat
Wow. I have a cat who is not very responsive to catnip. Within 1.5 seconds of being offered a silvervine twig, she fully lost her mind. Effect persisted for about 10-20 minutes before she started settling down. She loves to gnaw on them and swat them around. The silvervine plant is a species of kiwifruit native to east Asia. Silvervine is well-known to cat owners in Japan, Korea, and China, as catnip is not naturalized or as commonly grown there, and silvervine is more readily available.Interesting to note that, when I smell these, I detect a distinctive musky fragrance note that I associate with catnip. Turns out silvervine and catnip have some of the same “active ingredients”, so that component of the odor that seems to overlap between silvervine and catnip must be the smell that makes cats go nuts! I thought this was neat. The potency weakens as the product ages, but as the instructions mention, you can peel the outer layer (carefully) with a knife and restore some of the potency. It is noted that you should do this before giving it to the cat anyway — I confess that I did not do this the first time I gave one to my cat, but as the bark can flake off and become a choking hazard, it’s probably a good idea. You should supervise your cat with these, since they are not a designed and manufactured product, but a natural product with unpredictable properties (e.g. they may break or splinter), and, based on my experience, your cat will not be in the frame of mind to make wise choices in its own self-interest while enjoying this product.

Dont waste your money on these you dont get what is shown and they take so long to get to you and are opened at customs
kelligirl –
Not sure if itâs just my cat, or itâs the productâ¦but this was a waste of money
Nicolette T –
My cat loves these but I do have to shave off the bark with a veggie peeler. The bark flakes off really easily and I donât want a choking hazard. He plays with the sticks more so than chewing but itâs entertaining for him.
