I honestly questioned if this would work, but it does, brilliantly!!
I have two 18 month old indoor cats who have totally different interests, so keeping them both entertained can be a challenge at times. Luckily, our super hyperactive one fell in LOVE this play mat, so his usual destructive antics over the last couple of weeks have been redirected safely towards stalking, jumping & attacking the floating fish instead everything on our tables & counter tops! Our other more thoughtful & chill cat has shown zero interest in it, and that is ok because we have plenty of toys he favors.Watching him jump straight up in the air to pounce on it is hysterical! I think my cat’s “mighty hunter” personality has been brought out by this toy!HOW I GOT MY CAT USED TO IT:It took a few days to get him used to it. Since it’s filled with water, and cats by nature tend to avoid water, be really patient! Don’t scare or force them to interact with it, just entice them to be interested in it by using treats & allow them to explore and get comfortable with it on their own.1st Day: I started by putting out the mat without air or water filling it at all. I would throw some cats treats around on it & allowed home to explore it that way. By the end of the day, he was lounging on it.2nd day: I filled the outer ring with air & the center with water. I started by putting treats around the edge so he could get to them without having to step on it.3rd Day: I started placing treats towards the center that required him to walk on it with at least his front feet to reach them. I just kept doing this a few times a day until I saw him casually walking across it & starting to notice the toys floating around inside. So on the 5th day, I was able to stop putting any treats on it at all, and now he just plays on it nightly. He uses it as a cooling bed on hot days now too!UPDATE: After playing with this water mat for close to a month, this has truly become my cat’s favorite toy in the house. Also, I was inspecting it the other day, and found at least 7 areas where he has chewed on it, trying to get to the floating toys inside and I am thrilled to say that he is unable to puncture it! There are definite areas where you can feel the teeth marks in the plastic, but the plastic is just too thick for even his “fangs” can’t punch it.

Not worth the hassle for me
As with any cat toy, you never know what you’re cat’s going to take to. Neither of my cats really play with this. Sadly, the fish don’t move around too much so I don’t think they’re all that interested. The only interaction other than walking over it is that one does lay down on it sometimes.Aside from my cat’s opinions, I found this to be of questionable quality. The outer ring never held air. It did for like 30 minutes maybe but after that it never held air again. Also, this isn’t necessarily a quality thing, but it’s a messy pain in the bottom to fill the thing up with water. God be with you if you try to do this from the sink. I finally just filled up a pitcher of water to pour into it while it was on the floor. I still spilled enough, but it wasn’t nearly as messy as trying to fill it from the sink. If you have a bathtub, that might be a better bet. Unfortunately for me, no tub!Overall, it’s a pass from me. It’s not even about the boys not going crazy for it. Just the product flaws and difficulties filling it are enough for me.

So far it’s claw proof, as you can see with her literally clawing at it 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️ so far so good!

    Doesn’t stay filled with water
Water leaks out the bottom where you fill it and the air leaks out that goes around it. The cats love it when it’s filled but everything leaks out quickly.

    Punctured by a claw immediately.
Cute toy, but….Punctured within an hour of use. Probably better for a small dog than a cat.

Disappointing Experience: Cat Was Unimpressed with the Water Mat
I was really excited to try out this upgraded thickened cat water mat, especially with its promise of being unbreakable and interactive. However, my cat didn’t even give it a second look—he was completely unimpressed. The concept of a water sensory play mat and cooling pad seemed appealing, but it just didn’t capture his interest at all.The mat itself is sturdy, and I appreciate the quality of the materials, but it lacked the engaging features I had hoped for. I even tried to entice him to play with it, but he preferred his usual toys instead. While this might work for some cats, it certainly didn’t resonate with mine. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this as a go-to interactive toy if your cat is as discerning as mine!

Has Not Had a Leak For Almost Weeks So Far
This kitty water playmat has been doing fine so far, it’s been just about 2 weeks since we have been using it. I was skeptical about getting it, because vinyl plastic usually does not fair well when you add in cat claws, but it said it is thicker upgraded, and my daughter really wanted one for our 5 month old kitten, so I gave it a try.Our kitten was quite leery of it for about 2 days, and would only sniff it but not even walk too far near it. We would stand on it and make it have waves and show her it was okay, and after about 2 days she then started to walk on it. After another day or so, she started to play it with sometimes by herself. She plays more with it when we are interacting with her and the mat. I think I need to fill it with a little more water because sometimes the little sea creature shapes inside just stick to the inside of the vinyl and do not move, so I need to add a bit more water and see if that was the problem or if it was design flaw–the shapes look to be flat foam cutouts and they may stick to the vinyl no matter what.It is a bit bigger than I thought, especially from some of the listing pictures. It does have the dimensions in the listing picture, but I am not good with visualizing size in my mind.I blew up the outer ring with air first, because that is the easiest for me since it’s really difficult to blow something up when it is heavy with a bunch of water in it. Then I filled it up in the tub. I had to refill it a little more, and it’s around halfway full, but it is a lot of water and very heavy to carry.I am not too sure about the “unbreakable” claims, since cat claws are quite sharp, but it does seem thick and durable enough for light fun kitty play. If you cat like to claw things up, this would probably not be the best choice.
