Game-Changer for Litter Box Issues!
I bought this product to resolve a long-standing issue: my cat had been consistently pooping and occasionally peeing on the carpet in a specific area behind my couch. This went on for 18 months, and no matter how much I cleaned the spot, the behavior persistedâuntil I tried these scat mats. The results were immediate! As soon as I placed the mats, my cat stopped soiling the area entirely and started pooping 100% of the time in his litter box. He was already peeing in the box about 50% of the time, and even that has improved. This product has been life-changing for both of us.Iâm soon getting a new desk, and the dining room table Iâve been using as a desk will take the place of these mats. I might leave a few mats underneath the table as an extra deterrent since I wonât really be sitting at it, but Iâm hopeful that all the praise Iâve given him for using the litter box will stick. (Though I do wish he would bury his poop!)Pros:Affordable and incredibly effective as a temporary training tool.Easy to set upâI used zip ties to connect the rectangles (not mentioned in the product details but very helpful for creating a stable mat layout).Perfect for stopping cats from soiling specific problem areas.Cons:If you step on the mats, they hurtâthough thankfully they donât pierce the skin.Walking on the mats can damage them slightly, so they may not last long in high-traffic areas.Works best on surfaces where you donât walk often, like tabletops or counters.Overall, I highly recommend these scat mats for anyone dealing with cats soiling outside the litter box. They are an affordable, effective solution that gets the job done. With proper placement and consistent positive reinforcement, they can be a great tool for training your cat to avoid problem spots!

Effectively keeps cat off!
My cat recently developed a habit of pursuing on our counters, which I tolerated UNTIL she found the baby’s formula, opened it, and played in it/ate it…. TWICE. In a fed up fury, I bought these as step 1 of getting her off the counter. I placed a couple of them on the counter, which a decorative pumpkin with dried flowers in the middle that she historically likes to gnaw on. To my disappointment, there was evidence of her on the counter the next morning. It took me some trial and error, but this is what I’ve learned….1) Cover the entire counter. If she had some space to walk freely, she will.2) She won’t ‘land’ on them from jumping. So I put them on the barstools, because she doesn’t like to jump straight to the counter from the floor. The product itself works. It’s a matter of outsmarting my cat at least with the placement of the product. In addition to my counters, I placed them on the back of the couch to deter her from slumping the cushions and she leaves them alone.A good price for some piece of mind. They are sharp and unpleasant, and good quality. Each square is a good size, larger than I expected them to be.

Work well, but 1 minor complaint
These work well to cover surfaces and keep cats off them.My only gripe is that the edges of each sheet have a flat area that sticks out about 1/2 an inch – if you lock them together (overlay them just a bit) the one on top doesn’t sit quite flat due to this edge. You’ll have to trim a bit off with scissors to make them sit flat. This is a fairly minor complaint.

Works!
Best cat deterrent thus far. I have a persistent barn cat that sneaks in when I’m gone and gets on table and island. I covered a 5’x3′ island and a 60″ round table with these poky little mats. I also put one on every flat surface a cat might land on. I bought two boxes and they cover quite a lot. The end of the rectangles can hook together so they don’t move around. My husband woke to a crash and a ticked off cat the 1st night we had them. They are quite poky but does not hurt the cat. Can be cut to fit narrow spots like windowsill. Awesome product!

Works with practice!
It took about a week of the cats trying to surf the counters with these in place before they significantly decreased attempts to jump up. Easy to cut them and put them together like a puzzle to cover the narrow spaces in front of the sink and coffee maker. They are kind of a nuisance to have to move them around when I am working in the kitchen and believe me – they are SHARP! – so you don’t want to forget they are there and place your hand on them accidently! But after a week, I have removed them and have only caught the cats up there once or twice. Anticipate that I will need to put them up periodically to remind the cats that the counters are still off limits.

Cats are too smart for this.
I purchased these to keep my cats off the counter. The issue with these is that the method to which you are expected to connect each pad together is very basic and does not hold without the included sticky dots. They include a fair amount of the sticky dots but over time needing to re apply or move the pads around I can see you running out in less than a year.when you connect the pads together there is enough of a gap between spikes for your cat to place their paws between them and move around freely in your guarded area.I ended up not being able to use them on my counter as they did not cover enough area.So I ended up using them to stop our cats from attacking our house plants by cutting the pads to create NO space between the spikes and applying around the base of the plant on the floor in such a way so the cats can not extend their bodies past the spikes. This worked, however the cats figured out quickly they could just slide the spikes out of their way.Using the sticky dots I stuck the pads to the ground which angered the little helions and they just decided to live with the pain and walk on them to go for the plants.I wish the pads worked but unfortunately they do not.I gave this a 3 star because I think these would work for younger cats but once they start getting around the 4-6 month range I don’t think these will work any longer.Good product, bad cats.
