Orange cat says no
This scratching post arrived yesterday. Putting it together was quick and easy. I ordered it because I liked the idea of having the sisal at the top to encourage a “stand up to stretch” posture. My orange boy had other ideas. Currently I have a shorter scratching post that Cosmo uses by running at it from across the room to send it spinning over the hardwood with him as a crazed passenger on its circular platform. When it stops he flops over, digs in with his front paws, kicks it with his back paws and somehow propels himself in a circle around it. So, I guess it makes “orange cat sense” that he’d approach this new one the same way. This post didn’t slide though when he flung himself at it… it just toppled over, leaving him in an awkward position with his front claws dug in and a look of absolute, bug-eyed outrage on his face.Suffice to say, no stand-up stretching or scratching of any kind has taken place. Cosmo glances at the post and then looks at me with a “How could you?” expression. I think the platform needs to be at least twice as wide to better balance the height and weight of the post.

Great!
Cat’s love it! Tall enough for them to stretch and scratch. They immediately started using it after assembled. Easy to put together and seems very sturdy. Your cats and furniture will thank you for purchasing!

A big YES
Great scratching post at a great price. Simple, easy instructions and easy to put together. Comes with 2 ball toys (with bells) already attached, and 2 extra hanging ball toys (no bells). The information instructs you to build the tree with the carpet covered section first and the sisal covered section on top, however, you can build it either way. Both of our cats are big sisal fans. Until I switched the sisal rope (light colored section) to the bottom, neither one of our kitties had much interest. However, after the switch, they were both right on it. Iâm considering removing the carpet portion completely so that theyâll have easier access to the hanging ball toys. While only one of the bells actually makes any sound, the other will still hold interest to one of the cats. In addition, I keep working bells from older, retired toys, for situations such as this. Weâll see how things go, as weâll always have options with the configuration.

New favorite feline spot in our house
My kitty hardly stopped playing since I set this scratching post up for him, he’s having that much fun. Here he is taking a breather, establishing that it is “his” because he doesn’t want to share it with my other cat. It was easy to put together in under five minutes, the directions were very straight-forward. I appreciate it doesn’t have any weird chemical smells. Both cats have been standing up and scratching away at it happily, scaling the post up to the top, and batting at the two puffballs that dangle on each side. The combination of the carpeted base and bottom of the post with the sisal rope near the top is great for their claws and helps save our couch from wayward claws. Awesome kitty accessory, this is something they definitely have taken to, instead of just preferring the box (the fickle little creatures!)

Sturdy and easy to assemble
My problem with ordering these types of products online is that the base is always in two pieces. Does it save the manufacturer that much to not provide a solid square base? That is the single weakness of this product. The assembly is straight forward and only too 10 minutes. Although I’m disappointed with the two-piece base, it simply folds out and you attach the first part of the column with a bolt and large washer. Once that is done, the base does feel a little sturdier, but for how long, I’m not sure. All in all, our cats love playing with the little hanging balls.
