Thinner than I thought, but they work fine
One of my cats is really good at using these instead of the furniture to sharpen her claws. I had been buying these from a discount store.She was going through those really quickly, so I searched Amazon for a pack of them. I didn’t notice the thickness of them. Just assumed they would be the same as the ones I bought at that discount store. They are only about a third of the thickness. Kitty still likes them, but they will not last long.The upside is, they seem stronger than the thicker ones. Overall, they work as they should for her.

These stopped my cat from scratching furniture
This is one of the best (and least expensive) investments I’ve ever made in my furniture. My new cat was scratching up all of my favorite chairs, so I purchased these to try to detract her attention.I set up 2 of these scratchers next to both of my favorite chairs. I would put one up sideways against the chair -where she would usually scratch- and one on the ground next to the vertical one. She quickly adapted to the ones on the ground because the vertical ones would get knocked over every time she tried to scratch them.I got VERY lucky that my cat loved them and stopped messing with the chairs almost immediately. They are a great diversion if your cat is interested in things like this!They definitely do leave a mess but I’d rather vacuum up bits of cardboard than replace furniture.

No base frame (box) with these pads
The scratch pads are standard corrugated carton pads that, in stores, fit inside an included box frame. These are just the pads. When you sprinkle the catnip on the pad, it falls right through to the floor. I had to fashion a box frame, to insert the pad, from the box they shipped in, which is not a quality box – flimsy material.The pads themselves are fine. Nothing special, but do the job. They are wider than standard store-bought, and cats use them as intended. Not having a frame box is a royal pain, though.
