Bought this before reading that dogs can’t see red or green, so, my dog doesn’t react to the red laser much. She sees something, but not enough to be interested in it, so the laser part isn’t being used. However, the black light and regular light came in great handy lol. I use the regular light when I take my dog for a walk outside at night to shine light where she pooped so I can see it to pick it up. It actually lights up quite a big area. The black light is just for black light arts and crafts fun.

Mostly plastic + safety issue
I’ll preface my review with saying that I’m used to the all metal laser lights that have a decent weight to them and a push-button that can be cut off by just slipping my thumb off it. This one is not like that at all. So, when I opened the box, I was initially not happy about this purchase. The unit is basically all plastic, except for the metal extension for attaching the additional feather/bell toys to the end. This low quality metal extension is quite short at only 10″. So, either my cat needs to be up on his “tree” or chair, or I need to sit on a low-to-ground stool or on the floor to avoid having to bend over to play with him. The redeeming quality and what attracted me to this laser toy was the fact that it is rechargeable via USB plug in the wall. The toy comes with an extremely short 4″ cord (which, to me is useless . . . I threw it away and used my own) and no wall plug. The toy does not come pre-charged. After charging it, I tried the plastic slide button to turn it on and it is rather tight to slide back and forth through the 3 light options. The first is the red laser light, the second is a blue “UV” light and the third is a broader white light. The ad speaks of the UV light being used to locate pests like ringworm. Well, don’t plan on it. Get a real UV light for this use. The ad also speaks of the white light being like a flashlight. This light is so small, it wouldn’t serve well as a flashlight of any distance further than 10″. The slide button has a raised plastic figure, most likely intended to give friction to the thumb for sliding the switch. But, it is very uncomfortable to press into when sliding the switch. So, to avoid having wear to the skin on my thumb to slide the button on and off, I’ll need to put some type of silicone or rubber patch on it to make it a little easier to move the switch back and forth while minimizing wear on my thumb. I do like the ease of the dial that changes the option of the red laser from a dot, a butterfly, a smiley face, a star and a mouse. Truly, I don’t see this toy being worth the $13.99 price tag, since the material is such low quality and the fact that you can’t immediately slip you thumb off the switch to turn the laser off should my dog or cat turn his head in such a way to have the laser hit his eye. The latter is a critical safety issue for my pets. And one that I need to pay attention to when using this toy with them. The two major selling features of this toy are the ability to charge the battery via USB and the different red laser figures.

My chunky girl is playful!
Got this for my cat’s 9th birthday and she absolutely LOVES it. She only gets small bursts of energy so our other cat (2yo) will play for hours if she can until the other wants to have her small burst again lol
