Customers say

Customers appreciate the pet activity structure’s appearance. They find it sturdy and well-made. However, some find it too small for their cats to comfortably lounge in. The product is also prone to tipping over. Opinions vary on build quality, value for money, scratching ability, weight, and carpet quality.

    My little diva loves it.
New 11/12/1024: The cat is now 15 and still loves this thing. The sides have held up rather well, although some of the carpeting does get torn out when she scratches it. Again, the broom takes care of that. It is still stable, it is only damaged in the way you expect a scratcher to be, and I still recommend it. :)Original 7/9/2023: I have a 14-year old cat who destroyed one of these once before (it took a few years to claw the carpeting away). I am expecting her to destroy this one too. I’ve had it for a few months now, and she sleeps on top of it (on occasion), but mostly she scratches the heck out of the sides. It took her two weeks to warm up to it, but she hasn’t gone back to her old one since. I feel confident that I can throw it out and she will keep on using this new one. Yes, you will have some pieces of carpet from it left behind on the floor. It’s nothing a broom can’t handle. She is a 14-lb cat, and while she isn’t too interested in crawling inside the tower (which would fit her on the bottom level), she does nap on the top. It fits her comfortably.10/10 will purchase again (when she destroys this one). 🙂

    A true furniture saver!!!
If you buy scratch posts and your cat still tears up furniture then try this product!!! Learn about your cat! Cats tend to fall solidly into one of two categories: the “horizontal” scratcher or the “vertical” scratcher. But at least 80% of scratch posts for cats are vertical, and those are what most people buy for their precious, furry scissorhand companions. The first two to three years of “Mogi’s” life I tried many different products and gave him every option I could find, yet he still loved to scratch up the furniture as much as any vertical post I gave him. Two years ago I happened across a mirror image of this product at Big Lots and decided to give it a chance. (Full disclosure, I don’t think that first one was a North American Pet scratch post but I am not absolutely certain of that). It turned out to be the miracle I had hoped for! It became his security blanket and his favorite thing in the world to play in, use and scratch, hideout, …everything! I never again had any issues with him scratching the woodwork in the house or the furniture. The issue came about a year and a half later when, after constant use and abuse, the original “scratchy” (as I came to call it) had started to near the end of its life. Not because of bad quality, but because of dedicated use. Since it had come from Big Lots I was not sure where to find a new one just like it, and it turned out to be a massive undertaking to find one just like the original. After two days, and more than 4 hours of searching, I FINALLY came across this product from North American Pet. Thank goodness!!! This “whistle-shaped” scratchy is the one and only that I have found that is exactly like that first one that I bought. I ordered “Mogi” a new one at the beginning of this year, and not a single time have I had to get on him for scratching at anything in the house that he was not supposed to. I am now about to order him a brand new one for Christmas and I am extremely grateful and happy that I saved the link to this product several months ago. It really is one of a kind anymore, and it is a miracle product for my baby. I’m not saying it will work the same for all cats, but if you have purchased several scratch post versions and still have a furniture problem then this is very likely the answer you have been looking for! Give it a try! And… please don’t be a butcher by having a cat declawed! If you have thought about that as an option please read up on how bad it is for them first!

    Great but expensive
I can’t believe how much I spent on this. But, my cat won’t scratch sisal and it’s become nearly impossible to find a good carpeted post. I have a few of the 24″ two-story condos and bought the same again. It requires a heavy book (or other item) at the inside bottom to prevent it from tipping. I was nervous to try the post because it looked too much like it would tip and that there would be nowhere to put something heavy to prevent it. Her claws are better already, after just a few days. I’m glad I bought it for her and would love to replace one of the others, but ouch the price.

Cats Love It – That’s The Problem.
Even after reading the reviews, I thought this thing probably wasn’t that bad, and I gave it a chance. They said it was a little small – well, my cats are small and even if they smoosh it, no big deal. They said it wasn’t as pictured – the sisal part was much smaller & didn’t go over the hump like it does in the picture. Well, that would be ok, I guess – and I foolishly believed that the product would probably come as pictured anyway. It wasn’t until I received it that I remembered the other criticism, the one that should have scared me away if I hadn’t forgotten about it….. the staples.Friends, it’s not just a few staples here and there. It’s about a staple per inch, up one side and down the other. The sisal is, indeed, just a small panel on the front of the hump. I have a hard time imagining how a cat could comfortably dig into it, especially since the edge where sisal meets carpet runs right over the top of the hump and is *double-thickness and full of staples*.And I could even overlook that, if the staples were well-buried in the material and I felt confident they would stay snug. I didn’t even have time to fully form that illusion before it was shattered. I pulled out about half a dozen loose staples from the edging and carpet. By hand. No tools. Also, THE TAG WAS STAPLED ON. Those staples I had to dig out with a pair of needle-nose pliers.I wanted it to work. I so very much wanted to stop the kitties from sharpening their claws on the various area rugs. So I put it out for them anyway. They played with the feather toy. It was adorable. They gave it a good scritch or two and it seemed like maybe it was all going to be ok. They’d avoid the staples. They’d play in the tunnel. We’d all sip mimosas on the sunny deck of a yacht in the Caribbean and have a good laugh. It was not to be. The scritcher didn’t last 24 hours. I’ve attached some photos of the wreckage – shield your eyes if ye be faint of heart. The Scritcher is dead. Long live the Scritcher.I want my money back.
