The first wave was just the beginning …
The United States is in ruins. It has just suffered one of the worst hurricanes in history, the people are demoralized, and the president is a religious fanatic. Then things get really bad – the Clickers return. Thousands of the monsters swarm across the entire nation and march inland, slaughtering anyone and anything they come across. But this time the Clickers aren’t blindly rushing onto land – they are being led by an intelligence older than civilization itself. A force that wants to take dry land away from the mammals. Those left alive soon realize that they must do everything and anything they can to protect humanity – no matter the cost.
This isn’t war, this is extermination.

Clicker Carnage continues
In the second installment of the Clickers series, J.F. Gonzalez is joined by Brian Keene, and all mayhem breaks loose. The U.S. has suffered a gigantic hurricane, and what could be even worse? That same hurricane is driving the Clickers species back on land to once again attack the human race. The president is an insane religious fanatic that doesn’t believe the U.S. is coming under attack from crab/scorpion like creatures, and is completely oblivious to the needs of his fellow Americans. The Clickers though are being led on land by a force unseen, and their intentions are clear : take over the land of Americans for their own, by any means necessary. The gory horror continues with the second book in the series, and definitely does not disappoint one bit. Fast paced and page turning, this is a must for horror fans!

The real terror here is humanity
The Xylanic spoiler free drilldown: Hello, faithful readers, Xylanic is here once again to give you his thoughts on the sequel to the excellent Clickers, Clickers 2. If you’ve read my review for the original you will see that I was quite pleased with the overall character development and structure of the original and I’m happy to say that the sequel does not cause any disappointment. Firstly, Brian Keene, well known for his excellent Zombie novels The Rising and City of the Dead and not as well known for A Gathering of Crows and Darkness on the edge of town (But equally excellent) is the co author on this sequel due to the passing of the original’s co author. Fans of Brian will see his influence right away as Brian is skilled at introducing character’s with depth and background and then slicing them into various pieces. Clickers 2 is set on a much broader scale than the original novel as the creatures launch an all out attack on the East coast. Without giving specific spoilers, some of the most fun moments of the novel are set in major cities such as Atlantic City, Baltimore and Washington D.C. as the aforementioned Clickers cause havoc. The author’s goal of having one flash back to classic monster movies truly shines during the novel’s opening act and the creatures opening siege of the East Coast, told through various character viewpoints. The carnage and destruction is on a much larger and much more grotesque scale than the original and the novel feels even more fun as a result. The true star of this novel however is not the creatures but once again the characters, specifically the President and a man named Tim. These two characters are the most horrifying creations of the author’s as they show that despite what the forces of nature may throw at us, humanity’s dark side holds the greatest threat during times of turmoil. As the invasion by the Clickers pick up, the depths of depravity and religious persecution that the aforementioned characters delve into cause the most sickening and horrifying moments of the novel. The President in particular will stick with you for a long time as he has a method for his madness and truly believes that the actions he takes during the novel are in the best interest for his nation. Xylanic gives this one Four Stars and ensures that if you enjoyed the original or just enjoy end of the world type novels you will love this one!

A worthy sequel!
Just finished Clickers II: The Next Wave and I was very impressed with the story all-around. I feel its strength lies in the B-story of the book. A religious president slowly being claimed by insanity, seems like a tactic that King would use.Summary: So it is about a decade later after the events of Phillipsport, ME. We learn about the government doing its best to cover up the incident through various newspaper clippings. Then we are thrust to present day where a large hurricane is baffling meteorologists with its trajectory. Then the Clickers strike. Following the rules of a sequel, the Clickers are bigger, badder, and more pissed off. They strike at various points of the Eastern Seaboard. We meet the White House Cabinet and President Tyler. Tyler sees this as his opportunity to set the country onto the path of being Saved. The Clickers raise hell and are followed by The Dark Ones who are seeking revenge for being hunted by the military back in Phillipsport. Amongst the war breaking out is Colonel Livingston. He quickly takes control of the battle and he soon finds himself fighting a two-sided war. On one side are the deadly Clickers and the Dark Ones, but also a civil war between the followers of President Tyler. This book is very character driven. The favorite of mine is President Tyler. He becomes unpredictable in his stead-fast plan to Save the country. The reader quickly grows to hate him and hence why I love him. His character evokes the most emotion out of all of the cast. Rick Sychek returns with his woeful tale of living underground from threat of government assassination. We learn that things did not turn out all that great for the survivors of Phillipsport. There are other characters that I enjoyed. Colonel Livingston started to become too cliched for my taste. Either way this is a great sequel and I cannot wait for Clickers III to be made available onto Kindle. The best news of all is that Clickers vs. Zombies is currently in the works by both of the great authors.

Why didn’t they listen?
This was an awesome followup to the great homage to B movie horror Clickers this time around we have some of the survivors of the Phillisport disaster come back into the fold only this time the threat is not only the giant crustaceans and their lizard men masters oh no, this time we have a crazy over religious president who is as scary as the monsters themselves. This was a collaboration between two of my favorite authors and I love the fact that Deadite brought this back to print since it was so hard to find on the secondary market. I highly recommend this great paced and highly action filled sequel and look forward to reading the rest of the Clicker anthology.

Following on from first book, this is set a few months afterwards, which was a bit of a let down (there’s a few flashbacks and comments) i would have love to have it expand more on it BUT, when the book gets going, it’s moves into high gear, Blood and guts everywhere as the war with the Clickers and Dark ones start to invade the mainlandIf you read the first book, pick this one up
