Definitely gets there attention
I do like this whistle. First thing is. You can definitely hear it. I have 4 dogs. 3 toy fox terriers and a pug. 2 are puppies and 2 are old. The puppies respond best, they stop running and stand at attention. It makes the old dogs stop barking. It works well.

Clever design, but otherwise…unsure
Clever design of this dog whistle, that includes a lanyard and covered, adjustable pitch wheel.As for effectiveness, I am unsure. Our (4) dogs appeared to be indifferent to it. The reason I got it, was to “encourage” at least one of the dogs to “respond” (gain their attention) and perhaps more easily come inside from the large backyard without having to instead physically go to retrieve them. I wish the adjustable whistle was able to reach an even higher pitch—for that reason. (NOT a painful frequency, but a higher one, that got their attention and not just a seemingly random, mild curiosity that was easily ignored.) I’m not a canine audiologist, but the adjustability seemed to go from a lower to an increasingly higher pitch (that I could clearly hear), and then simply stop—before what seemed to logically be a more usefully high pitch range. (Running out of further adjustability to go to what I would think would be usefully higher.) Blowing harder, I felt that if it were simply outside human hearing level at that point, surely it would be noticed by our dogs. That did not appear to be the case.

I bought this whistle for my dog that is going deaf. I hoped he could hear it enough so I could get his attention. But none of my dogs seemed to hear it. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but out of the box to my lips, I was disappointed.
