Customers say
Customers appreciate the leash’s build quality, length, and functionality. They find it well-made using good materials, with a longer webbing fabric that can handle heavier strain. Many say it works well for large dogs and locks/unlocks easily. Customers also like the color, ease of use, and retractable feature. However, some have differing opinions on the weight and value for money.

Serious leash for big dogs
This leash is solid! Great fit in my average sized hands. Color is great for visibility in poor light, and retraction is perfect and quiet. I purchased a second one for my vehicle. Great investment in comfort and safety.

Greatly improved over a previous version we used for 15 years
We used a blue Flexi Giant for about 15 years and the spring finally gave out on it. So I decided on the current version despite a few reviewer issues. I decided upon the XL version even though our 65 lb dog doesn’t pull much just for the extra margin of robustness, prorating the price difference over another 10-15 years of use. Among the improvements in the new version (well designed using good materials and made in Germany), is it’s geometry which allows your arm to hang straight down instead of having your elbow bent as with the older one This means that the weight, due mostly to the tape, isn’t an issue since it just hangs there. The new model also allows full operational control with the thumb whereas to lock the old one in position, you had to push a side button in with the stop engaged to lock it. Now you just push the lock forward with the thumb and then push that thumb forward to engage the locking button. The open reel is nice for drying out in case the tape gets wet. Another difference is the bright fluorescent yellow-green color which makes it much more visible to others, and we have to consider bicyclists, joggers, and drivers where we walk along with other dog walkers. It also comes with a very informative safety guide emphasizing points I didn’t know or think about before including dangers associated with skin contact with the tape and of it wrapping around fingers or legs, and snap-back of the metal clasp (and a safety strap to prevent it should there be a failure of the connection in the collar). It also has additional range compared with the old one and does a great job of keeping the tape taught as the dog goes forward and back so it won’t get around the dog’s legs — an occasional issue with our old one. All-in-all easier to operate and greatly improved. I’m looking forward to many years of service from it and will update this review with any subsequent observations or concerns.

Great quality leash!
We love this thing! Itâs heavy duty, great length, doesnât tangle, handle is easy to grip, color is fun and can definitely be seen in the dark. I really enjoy the locking feature. Easy to use.

Great for obedient or fairly good dogs, provides some freedom on walsk
One of the best things I have bought for my Labrador in a long time.He is an obsessive sniffer so usually heâll stay behind to sniff things which makes walking him an exercise in accordion compression. Itâs frustrating with a six foot leash so I decided to couple this with the recommended bungee/shock absorber attachment (sold separately).I can let my lab Sniff at his own pace as I keep walking or let him go to places off the road without following him into thick brush and mud.I should note if your dog likes to take off after things, you should really buy the $20 bungee thatâs available here. Itâll lessen the shock on you and your dog especially if you tie this leash to your dogâs neck collar. She could choke out if thereâs enough of a running start sprinting towards something. The tape inside the leash is fairly sturdy. Iâve seen some broken ones in the reviews here but after a few months of using this with lots of tying the rope around trees and getting it wound up around fairly abrasive objects, the tape still looks great, albeit slightly dirtier. The locking button and click-lock are very easy to use, but does make a considerable amount of clicking noise. I find that the lock button even if not click locked in place can take a second to unlock even after youâve released the push down button itself because of the way the cogs or gears inside this leash works.I strongly recommend this if you have a good controllable dog who doesnât dart off all the time. And for convenience, I also got the earthbags poop bag attachment that holds 15 or so bags. Itâs great cos it has a little clip for holding onto poop bags so you donât have to carry it in your hand!

26 ft flexi xl dog lease
These are fantastic, I got 2 great danes that love to pull hard, these are durable and long enough you don’t pull a muscle when they take off, designed for larger dogs, definitely glad I made this purchase

If you have a big dog that needs to be on a leash this product is very good
Great product. Got a big dog and live by a busy country road. There are a lot of animals that come thru are yard and my dogs natural instinct is to chase them. If it were not for the leash I am sure he would have gotten hit by now. It also gives him plenty of room to run around. This is my second one because the first one, which I had for six years, went across a hot burn barrel and melted. Otherwise I would still be using it. Noted that my dog is over 100 pounds and has learned the length of the leash so he stops before it comes to an end mostly. If the dog does not stop brace yourself, let go, or prepare to go for a ride because the leash does not break. I do not use the break away collar because of him going across the road or chasing bear. No sense having a great leash if the collar is going to give out when you need it the most.

The price of freedom
I just bought my 3rd Flexi Giant XL. My dog is a 3.5 y/o 100 pounds mix Pitbull who’s ridiculously strong and agile. He takes off as the sight of a squirrel, cat or rabbit, and will haul like a small tractor on turbo whenever he wants to meet (or smell) a potential canine friend or foe. I would not recommend this leash for dogs younger than 18 months, as the tape is apparently very easy to chew through. However, once the dog has passed its chewing phase and the handler gets used to it, the leash is a real joy and will remain reliable for a few years. The animal quickly gets used to the length of its own freedom and will respond to the ‘click’ of the leash locking mechanism by stopping. The leash’s body is solid and it will stay together through all kinds of accidents and road hazards — such as being pulled at full speed over bumpy terrain for half a mile in pursuit of a neighbor’s loose chicken. It is not 100% indestructible (nothing is): the inner coil will eventually give up and the exposed part of the wheel will break if hit too hard repeatedly.

My 140 lb Cone Corso and I absolutely love this leash. Nice length, soft retraction and TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH. He is just learning commands and hasn’t quite broken the ,’RABBIT” bolt instinct. He took off full tilt after a bunny. He can run 50kph + and thinking I could hold him back, being a 220 lb, fit male. I was seriously wrong. He yanked me over and I couldn’t hold the leash as I plummeted to the ground on my face, the leash was ripped from my hands. Fortunately he realized his mistake and stopped and returned. The leash was……….Perfectly Fine. It survived a catapult launch and about a 15 foot high flight into the rugged solid ice in the alley at -14°C. Its mind blowing any plastic can survive that abuse. Not a scratch and works like new. WOW! WOW! WOW! And it happened a couple times. Except I let it go after the first launch. WOW! He has curbed the impulse now thx to this leash. A side button brake would be a great addition to the AMAZING QUALITY HEAVY DOG LEASH. Calgary Ab Canada Thank you

Purchased this lead after our Golden Retriever chewed through a couple of lighter weight ones. The tape itself is nice and strong, and the lock/retraction works well. The retraction spring on our first one started to fail after 3 years (not bad considering it was used daily and in all weathers) so we’ve since purchase another as a replacement keeping the original as a backup. The only point to make is that this is a large/heavy lead to carry which takes a little getting used to if you have previously had a smaller and lighter weight one.Would definately buy this again if we needed another replacement for any reason.
