Install the Dog Silencer MAX where you need it most
On your House

75ft Automatic Bark Detection Range
The Dog Silencer MAX detects each time the dog(s) bark within 75ft. You won’t hear it, but barking dogs will hear an ultrasonic noise that is irritating to them, similar to fingernails on a chalkboard. They will learn that their barking triggers the noise and consequently reduce barking. Depending on the dog training can take 2-3 weeks for the dog to fully understand and quiet down.
Adjustable Bark Sensitivity
The distance between the Dog Silencer MAX and the barking dog is important. The bark sensitivity dial adjusts the responsiveness of the bark-detecting microphone. If the barking dog is nearby or inside your home, keep it low. If the dog is farther away, like a neighbor’s dog, increase the sensitivity. You can also use remote-only mode which will turn off automatic bark detection.
Manual Activation Option
With the push of a button you can manually activate the Dog Silencer MAX. Use the included remote control to emit powerful ultrasonic sounds when you want. Things to keep in mind when training
The Dog Silencer MAX will not be effective for instinctive barking, such as alarm or protective barking. It is designed to quiet nuisance barking that persists out of boredom or habit.
Avoid false activations
Setting the bark sensitivity dial too high for a dog that is nearby may set off false activations. In addition, setting the sensitivity too low for a dog farther away, may cause the unit not to activate when needed.

Does NOT work
Product does not work at all! Well within range of dogs and facing directly at them. All of them continue to bark incessantly. Gave it a couple of months for the dogs to figure it out and now cannot return the device. Waste of money.

This…. actually worked?!?!!?
Neighbor dog has been driving me utterly insane for the last few months. Once they let him out, he barks – non-stop, every 2 seconds, until they let him back in (anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours). I am not exaggerating. Talking to them about it – they didn’t care. Made many complaints to the humane society – nothing worked. It got to the point I had to buy noise cancelling headphones and literally move my office to the other side of the house.I bought this as kind of a last-ditch hail mary. I couldn’t believe it when I got it set up, he came out and was off to the races again…. and he stopped dead. No barking after the first. A minute later he barked again, and stopped. This went on for a couple minutes, I would key the remote and set it off whenever he barked.After 2 days of this, when he comes out, he barks once. And he is DONE. I don’t know how it sounds to him, and I don’t care – I am just beyond thrilled that this worked. Completely and 100% worth the extra money for me.

Malfunctions
This item malfunctioned. It seemed to be working intermittently, mostly when I set it off by remote control. But one night it went off and wouldn’t stop. I had it set on audible so I could tell when it was working and when it was not. I had to hike up the hill in the dark to stop it from making that irritating sound and I’m sure my neighbors could see me. So embarrassing!

BUYER BEWARE! Ineffective!!!
Complete and utter garbage! Does not do what it claims and for $150, it absolutely should. Back story…neighbors dogs on the other side of the fence get triggered at the slightest noise and continually bark at all hours of the day and night. Fence is 6′, I mounted device about 9′ on my Tuff Shed to clear fence and have line of sight to the fence at the front of their yard, approx 75′ away. While in test mode, the device seems to p/u the barking sound, but has no affect on them. Interesting side note, while I was testing this thing, I could actually p/u the high pitched noise emitting from the device. It definitely pierced my ear and it was painful. I’m pretty sure I’m not supposed to hear it and thus suspect it really isn’t an Ultrasonic device. I left it up for a couple of weeks just to see if things would change and they didn’t. Returned for refund!

Downside of the Dog Silencer MAX
Good that there is Audio – neighbors also heard it! They finally brought the dog in the house. You could also hear it, when it is working and the batteries ran out. Delayed response to barking. So there’s not immediate correction. Comes in after the dog barks and then the dog barks at it. There is also a delay in the hand held mechanism that can manually initiate it. That also sounds like a clicker, so the neighbor and dog(s) can hear it first – for those who have clicker trained dogs. This was pretty cheap. Good to make that quiet working. Other sounds sets the Silencer off – not just the bark.

Fairly effective but requires a clear line of sight
We bought this to address our neighbor’s dog’s nuisance barking and we were surprised to find it works quite well. Under ideal circumstances, that is. What’s important to keep in mind is that this doesn’t prevent all barking. We’ve learned that no matter what, there’s nothing that will prevent a dog’s instinctual barking. When our neighbor lets her dogs outside to do their business (between 5am and 7am daily!), they can’t resist barking at the first person, dog, cat, bird, squirrel, rabbit, deer, etc they see off in the distance. What we’ve found is that the dogs will almost always bark for several seconds before they trigger the device. After they’ve received enough feedback, they will usually stop barking until they are called back inside. It took us some experimenting to learn where to place the device so that it wouldn’t be blocked by trees or a fence or any other solid objects but once we found the sweet spot, we found that it consistently worked fairly well. Things to keep in mind: Again, this won’t stop barking entirely. Also, we found that using the powered adapter is better than batteries, because as the batteries wear down (and with the device being outdoors, there’s no way to know how long that will take), it appears to be less sensitive. I also suspect that if there’s competing noise from wind, rustling tree leaves, etc, it takes longer for the dogs to react to the ultrasonic sound. We already found (not surprisingly) that the batteries (6AA are required) wear down faster as the temperature drops. So again, if you have access to an electrical outlet, I highly recommend using the power adapter over batteries. Also, I was initially skeptical that more distant dogs would react to my triggering the device with the remote control but, to my surprise, it’s been fairly effective at quieting dogs from several houses away. Unfortunately, however, the range of the remote isn’t very far. So in order to trigger the device remotely, you have to be within a few yards. Another thing to keep in mind is that, this doesn’t work through walls. So it’s useless on the same neighbor’s dogs once they’re indoors or behind a wooden fence. If you’re hoping to quiet that dog in the apartment across the hall or next door, that ain’t gonna happen. Overall, I highly recommend this but with the caveat that if the device isn’t placed somewhere where it can “see” the offending dog, it won’t work. If you have a window sill or other outdoor place where you can aim the device without being blocked by surrounding solid objects, I think you’ll find this to be fairly effective. It hasn’t prevented barking but it does force dogs to quiet down once they’ve triggered it a few times.

I had such high hopes
I had such high hopes for this silencer, especially since my neighborâs dog looks exactly like the German shepherd on the box, and is even named Max! I put the unit 7â from the chain link fence (I couldnât care less if my neighbor saw it). That dog would come right to the fence, directly in front of the unit, and bark his head off. Occasionally heâd look around as if a mosquito was in his ear, but it didnât deter his barking one bit. I gave it two weeks, like they suggestâ I swear, I think it worked even less by then. So I just mailed it back for a return. What a waste of time and money and high hopes. And now I hate the dog even more.
