No smashed, bruised face anymore!
My dog was frustrated by other slow feeder bowls with shallow ridges. She would smash her face into them trying to get food and end up bruising her chin pretty badly. This one has deeper wider sides show still slows her down but doesn’t completely stop her from eating. Highly recommend this bowl design vs others on the market.

My Lab has a problem eating too fast, he sucks up a bunch of air and burps or hiccups or whatever for the next half hour. I tried feeding him in small doses or with water mixed in, but that just resulted in me standing in the kitchen for an extra ten minutes a day and him having to pee more. No more, time to hit Amazon for something to fix it!I looked at a couple of slow feeding bowls, and this one won me over because it was cheap. Yup, that’s it. At around five bucks, it’s worth a shot. Surprisingly, it doesn’t feel cheap (other than it’s made of plastic). It’s sturdy and the rubber feet on the bottom grip as well as can be expected when my dog attempts to eat it along with his kibble. I’ve thrown it in the dishwasher a few times and it’s none the worse for wear.He went from eating a meal in about 20 seconds to taking a minute, and the burping and such have definitely decreased. Well worth it to me, and if this thing falls apart, it was five bucks. Some of the steel slow feeding bowls may work better, but at $20+/ea, I’ll just stick with this one.I do take issue with the fact that Amazon won’t sell me this thing for a million billion dollars, unless I buy $25 worth of other stuff. The add-on program rubs me the wrong way, I spent $80 or whatever for a Prime membership, you can’t put this $5 bowl in a box for me?

Debating between Jumbo & Large? Large holds 2 cups of food only!
I wasn’t sure what size to purchase — I ended up going with size “large.” Note that the large fits 2 cups of food comfortably — but do not depend on it to fit any more than that. If you feed more than 2 cups of food at a time, get the jumbo size! For me, this was perfect, as my dog eats 2 cups of food per day. This did slow him down. He now finishes his food around the same time as my other dog, whereas beforehand, he would be finished in 15 seconds. I used to have a raised feeder for him with a small bump in the bowl, but it never slowed him down. Since switching to a non-raised feeder and this bowl, I no longer hear him make that “snuffing” noise after eating that was concerning me.I would recommend this product, merely because it’s a great deal for the minimal price. However, as other reviews have stated, it is certainly not “skid-stopping” to ANY degree. He even pushes it off the carpeted mat that I have for him. He has yet to tip it over, but he does slide it around. I would recommend getting a “no skid” mat for underneath your dog’s bowl if you’re genuinely concerned — which I may end up doing. Because of this, I’m rating it 4/5 stars as the description of the product is misleading in this regard. There’s no way this could ever be considered non-skid unless you have a 2 pound poodle who simply wouldn’t be able to move the bowl due to size/strength.I’m also very happy that mine came in a neutral white.**** Update – 12/29: it is still taking him (mastiff mix) a slower amount of time to eat his food and he still hasn’t made that awful noise after eating. I bought a Dogit Go Slow Anti-gulping bowl (competitor to this bowl on Amazon) two years ago for my other dog, but left it at my mom’s house in WI for when we visit. He used that bowl over Christmas vacation for the first time and was done significantly faster than with this bowl. It is likely the size of your dog’s snout that will make the difference, but I wanted to note this as there is a small price difference between bowls — so if this bowl doesn’t slow your dog down enough, try the Dogit as it may make a difference depending on the breed (be advised that the size large Dogit bowl is HUGE — as in 4 or 5 cups — as I ordered that first when ordering two years ago and had to swap for medium). Note that the medium holds just 2 cups of the Dogit bowl vs. this bowl in large. I have also somewhat fixed the issue with skidding by placing a bathmat with coarser thread under it. He can’t move it nearly as easily now. Still really glad I purchased this product. Hope you find success with it!

Stopped my lab puppy’s re-eating
Good bowls at a great price (the ones I received are blue). I researched bowls of this type and decided to try these as they were much more affordable. I ordered two large ones for my two Labrador Retrievers. They used to “inhale” their food, and my younger lab who is still a puppy would often have episodes of re-eating until using this bowl. It didn’t slow them down too much, but just enough. Plus, I put water in their food like people would put milk on cereal. This also slows them down, aids in digestion, and gives them more hydration. The description said color may vary, so I was hoping for two different color bowls for the two dogs, but I received two blue ones as pictured…which is fine. The skidstop may not work they way some would like, but pushing the bowl around slows them down even more.Update Jan 2013: reordered 3 new bowls as I’ve added a third dog (lab/pit mix) to my pack since first purchasing these bowls. My original blue bowls when left on the floor became chew toys around the edges and were looking a little worse for wear. So I reordered 3 new ones (this time I received 3 white speckled ones – pretty). Hopefully, other members of my family will me more proactive (like me) about picking the bowls up after eating. These would last a lot longer if not chewed on and the old blue ones are still usable…just not very pretty anymore.

I have used these in the past for my 70 lb Golden Retriever and they really work. He eats much more slowly. We just got a 4 month old who eats WAY too fast and these worked wonderfully for the pup too. Highly recommended.

Holds up to labs!
I buy these bowls whenever one of our current ones get a little torn up. I have two labs who eat like they have never been fed before. They used to eat so fast they would end up throwing up all their food. These bowls are great, as they slow them down enough so they no longer throw up from eating too fast. They are durable. But our pups are rough on them, so I order new ones about every year or so.

Wow can’t believe the change in the dog after one meal!! our dog is a rescue dog and whenever food is put in front of him it was as if he’d never get fed again! about 10secs to finish a bowl well now that is between 30-60 secs and I’m hoping he now gets to taste it!! brilliant strong product amazing for the price very durable!! highly recommended!!!
