    My cat couldn’t wait!
Ellie May was playing with the feathers as I was completing my final turns of the screw, and she had been playing with it nonstop since then! She is delighted with her new toy, and I am so happy to have given it to her! She deserves it, the little sweetheart 🥰 Not the easiest thing to put together. It said give minutes and it took me more like 20. However, it’ll be great. It’s a temporary toy because eventually she will tear it up and I’ll need to replace it, but based on how long her last cardboard toy lasted, it’ll be a few months and for that, the price was absolutely fine! Omg, I can hear her, she’s out in my living room having a great old time with it! Sooooo happy I got it for her!! 🥰🥰🥰

    Not particularly well made
This is held together by thick plastic screws. They made tiny pin pricks on the sides roughly where the screws go, but they didn’t line up particularly well. I didn’t realize that the cardboard comes in four parts, two for the top and two for the bottom, and they’re held together by a tongue and groove connection in the wooden sides that you screw on. The big issue I have is that the parts don’t quite fit right. The wooden plank in the middle is about a quarter inch wider than the cardboard, so the sides don’t lay flat. I had to tighten the screws the whole way or the whole thing is loose and rickety. On top of that, the ball is much smaller than the hole behind the slats, so it’s just loose, rolling around back there. I assumed it’d be a little more snug so it didn’t roll backwards away from the hole.My cat likes the long bottom, but he won’t scratch the top part or play with the ball.

Solid with plenty of scratching surfaces
We have four kitties in the house, so we own many scratchers in a variety of materials and shapes. We have two L shaped cardboard scratchers like this already, but I was looking for another one for our stairwell as one kitty will occasionally pick at the carpet on his way up or down the stairs and I would like to redirect him to the cardboard scratcher instead. Compared to our other L shaped scratchers, I rather liked that this one was longer along the floor so that they can stretch/scratch both vertically and horizontally.Putting the scratcher together took about 15 minutes from unboxing to completion. The instruction page is clear, and you just push the plastic screws in to poke through the paper and then twist them down with the included screwdriver. Our 5 month old kitten loves bells and stole the bell/feather piece off of the table while I was assembling the scratcher 🙂 If you plan to place this item in a bedroom, you’ll probably not want to install the two bell pieces that come with the scratcher.Once completed, the scratcher feels as sturdy as my other ones. While we placed this one in the stairwell, one of our other ones is near the corner of our sofa and this one would work well there with the floor side either turned away from the sofa or slid underneath it. Once the outer scratching surface wears down, you could just flip it to use the unscratched side. Another thing that we do with these scratchers is disassemble, flip/rotate the cardboard pieces, and then reassemble them so that all the unscratched surfaces are also used.So long as you rotate the pieces so that you get scratching use out of all the available surfaces, I think that the price point of around $25 is about right. It’s quite sturdy and will last about a year in our house with four cats.

    Cat loves It
The cat loves this thing. He stopped scratching the couch ever since he got this thing. It’s only been a couple of days but hopefully it lasts.

    Protects my furniture
Introducing these cat scratchers into our home has been highly effective. The L-shape design directs my cat to appropriate scratching areas, safeguarding our furniture from damage. Made from durable cardboard, they withstand vigorous scratching, and the attached ball feather toy keeps my cat entertained. Cleaning is effortless, and the scratchers fit seamlessly into our living space. Adding more scratching surfaces would enhance their utility, but overall, they offer an effective and affordable solution for cat owners.
