Not just for a deck!
Excellent quality, sturdy construction and capable of handling many hanging objects! I personally used this to hang a light over my work area without putting a hook in our ceiling to illuminate over my desk area. I mounted to a bookshelf I have next to my desk, angeled up and over my workspace. It looks AWESOME and no holes in my ceiling or walls. This is a fabulous find!

Rugged without frills
We built a new deck a year ago and didn’t want to screw anything directly into the posts for our bird feeders. The new railing is too thick for most clamp on hangers, and the ones that do work, have a really limited capacity. To say that I’ve been looking for a long time for something to hang our high capacity Droll Yankee feeder is an understatement. This item looked promising.Things I think you should know:If you are thinking about using this on a 4×4 deck post with a sleeve, the bolts that come with it won’t work. They’re simply too short. The good news? You can get different bolts at your local hardware store (p.s. they’re metric so it helps if you can go to a shop that you can size them up in person rather than guessing based on something in a plastic clamshell. Our local Ace was fantastic!). The longer bolts worked like a charm.Because of the curve of the pole, our decorative topper on the post has to pop up ever so slightly. It doesn’t bother me in the least but if you are particular about that stuff, it may bother you.I have yet to be able to get this sucker to lock into place. It sways just a hair in the wind. Doesn’t bother me. It might bother you. It isn’t a large sway, but it is there.Minor complaint – when the posts are screwed together, the hook isn’t straight up and down. It is an engineering thing, I get it, it is tough to make perfect, but that one did bug me a little.The powder coating on this is not totally awesome. There are places where it is missing and I can already see a little rust forming. I don’t care all that much, but it will probably impact it’s longevity.The piece of metal that holds the slot for the pole on the assembly we got was bent. It isn’t a HUGE deal, but it does make it more challenging to get a good fit when the nuts are tightened up. Another engineering thing that could have been better. We did get it to work just fine in the end, but it was just something worth noting.All in all, I would recommend this product to someone in our same situation.

Measure your rail first
The product was fine, however I failed to measure my deck railing first and this bracket did not open wide enough to attach. So I had to return it. Measure first and verify the dimension.

Very sturdy deck hook for bird feeder
This was very easy to put together. I was surprised at the weight of the metal rods. I have a fairy heavy birdfeeder hanging from it and it feels very secure. Also I like the length as it makes it just a little more difficult to keep away from pesky squirrels.

Much higher quality than I was expecting. Super easy install and extra washers (for spacers) included to make sure the end of the pole lines up properly with the base. Has no issue holding my bird feeder while full. Even when full of seed and full of birds its hardly bounces when lots of birds leave at once.
