Customers say
Customers find the puzzles fun and educational. They find them a great family gift and perfect for boys interested in old weapons and how they worked. The puzzles are also praised for their value for money, educational value, and design. However, some customers have mixed opinions on the ease of assembly, build quality, and functionality.

son absolutely loved this!
Easy to put together (though hard enough to keep a 7yo stimulated for a few hours), sturdy and not cheap. Son needed just a little help for firm pressure by an adult to snap together the cannon balls. The rest he did by himself. He added army men to his play and drew his own targets to make a “war”. Hours of fun. Highly recommend for those that like to put puzzles together and build things.

Fun to work
I achieved.

Very fun to build and use, great gift, love that it’s wood but small parts can break
Great gift, easy and fun to build. Each of the Battalion items worked as advertised! Unfortunately the Ballista cross-bar broke but the Catapult and Bombard still work well. Would still gift it again just since it’s such a cool set and not very expensive (plus it’s made from wood so not more plastic littering the environment).

Awesome gift but for the right age
I gave to my 10yr old grandson. It was too difficult so his uncle helped him build one. This would be a good gift for 12+ and maybe even older. These things are awesome when built! Donât forget to give to your girls too.

Great for any other child who loves STEM projects!
Well made. The assembly of each of the 3 projects was easy. You might need a few drops of a better quality wood glue to hold all parts together after you sand off the burrs. Itâs a great STEM project for older children. Itâs incredible just how far the projectiles can launch, so be sure you have an open area without people or delicate objects.Definitely, a win for inquisitive little inventors.

Great quality
Got as a gift. They loved it. Exactly what was expected.

These are fun and work well.
The catapult: Easiest to assemble of the lot and shoots incredibly far for its size. It will launch its little bolder 10 or 12 feet. It functions smoothly and without fail. The ballista: A couple of complicated steps in the build for a kid. Shoots very well, probably 8 feet or so and with enough force to sting a little if it hits you (not that you should do that). :)The cannon: Its the toughest build, but my 10 year old still only needed help on 4 or 5 steps. It’s the least functional of the three though. It does shoot, but not very far. The trigger mechanism is difficult to manage and it’s easy to force part of the machine out of place when trying to fire it.Overall, good buy and a lot of fun for my kids. I’d do a similar set again with them for sure.

Very Challenging
I’m surprised at all the 5-star ratings. I’ve been building things all my life – 80 years. The directions are critical and often inadequate. The gluing sequence has to be evaluated with each step. 2 models had serious flaws. My 8 year old grandson needed constant help for most of it. Much he simply couldn’t do and he likes to make things.1. The ballista (crossbow) arrow was too flimsy to hold its shape and there was only one. Had to install extra rubber bands to give it adequate shooting force.2. The bombard (cannon) required a rubber band installation that was hardly explained and extremely difficult – for any age level. Had to disassemble after figuring out what was expected. Fortunately, hadn’t glued it.

Terrible.
