Please select the appropriate dog life jacket size after taking your dog’s girth measurement along the widest part of their rib cage. Make sure to take any other unique traits (i.e., large shoulders, long torso) into consideration. The Dawson dog life vest is available in multiple colors to keep your pooch looking good when it’s time to swim. Hand wash with warm water and mild soap. Air dry. Just perfect
It is exactly as described. We followed the measurement guidelines and it perfectly fits our dog. Have already used it. The handles were sturdy and allowed us to pull our dog out of the lake without ripping.

There are better designs elsewhere
My dog is a very strong swimmer, but I wanted to get him a life jacket for longer kayaking trips for peace of mind. I was surprised at how small the floaties were when I received the jacket but decided to give it a try anyways. Watching my dog swim with and without the jacket on, it was really hard to tell a difference. I would expect him to be slightly higher in the water with the jacket on, but that was not the case. He also seemed to get tired around the same time he normally would and if he stopped swimming I had doubts that the jacket would keep him afloat. I did try a larger size on him but felt that the smaller one felt more secure if and when I needed to haul him out of the water.Overall I wish it was more buoyant, the front float design needs to be revisited as it drifts to the side and becomes ineffective when in the water and it really should have a clip for a leash to make it easy to get down to and back from the water without having to switch to a harness or collar. I found a different life jacket with all 3 of these design changes that I much prefer.
