Good Mat Detangler
This stuff works very well. I have an elderly, short haired marmalade cat who managed to get mats in his fur that were practically felted they were so bad. It took patience and several sessions over a few days, but using this product with a special mat comb, we were able to gently restore his fur without a stressful trip to the vet. I now use this product occasionally for maintenance when we brush him and it keeps his fur from developing into the clumps again. A big plus with this product is that there is no scent. (It does squirt though so if you used a spray bottle as a deterrent for training, you will have to disguise this noise — I just muffled it using my hand) I sprayed the product directly on the mat and worked it gently with my fingers. After a minute (probably less, but I was patient) there was a loosening of the mat that allowed the mat comb to start to pick it apart. Without the spray, the mat remained a solid piece of felt impervious to the comb. This isn’t magical — it isn’t going to instantly dissolve the tangle or anything like that. It does absolutely loosen the mat to allow you to work it out without pulling or cutting. It did not leave any perceptible residue on my cat’s fur and his fur is softer, more moisturized as a result of it. I credit this spray with helping us resolve this issue for the comfort of our cat and I would highly recommend you give it a try if you are in a similar situation.

The only effective unscented detangler for cats!
This detangler is great. My long-haired Himalayan is the most static-y and matting cat I and his groomer have ever seen! Literally by the time you finish brushing out one side, the other side is tangling up again. We’ve tried all kinds of brushes and combs and nothing has worked as well to slow the matting as this spray. I use it every week, along with daily brush-outs in between and the groomer gives him a full body spray/brush out every couple of months. This routine and spray are how we have avoided having to shave my beautiful fluffy guy for the past 5 or 6 years! It also helps at getting out seriously thick mats too – if you work slowly and you/the cat have a lot of patience (although nothing works if you let them go too long/too tight – those may still have to be (carefully!!) trimmed off.) But the main benefit is that it’s practically odorless/tasteless, which is key for animals who groom themselves as much as cats do – I do not want my cat ingesting all kinds of perfume and chemicals. Highly recommend for anyone with long-haired animals who do not want to have to shave them because of mats!!

Works ok, just not for every mat
My cat weighs 21lbs and sadly canât reach his back to clean and de-mat his fur. He gets mats and some times needs to be shaved. I got this spray to see if it would help prevent mats.It is odorless which is a plus. It has the consistency of water, not sticky at all. You spray it on and comb it through. My thoughts/opinion are the following:Works on some little mats, makes the fur soft and look clean. It didnât work well on the bigger mats, at least not for me. I would highly recommend using a good quality comb.I think with consistent application and combing this would be a decent way of preventing mats.

So far so good!
My part Maine Coon girl isnât a huge fan of getting brushed so occasionally gets tangles at the base of her back that need some extra care. I decided to try this spray and have to say Iâm impressed! I spray some on my hand, rub it into the fur, then gently brush the tangles out. I canât detect any scent and she doesnât seem too curious as to what I put on her which is always a good sign. Definitely worth it to me and Iâll update with anything significant as I continue to use it. As a bonus itâs apparently good to cuddle with as I discovered when I went to take a picture with it beside her ð

Too greasy, left long term ‘wet’ look on the cat
Ugh. This stuff works but made/ makes the cat’s fur look greasy long-term (has not gone away) so he will need a bath basically to reset the whole process. I have a long hair kitty cat. Product smells fine enough and works OK but the greasy part will keep me from using it. I did not use more than two or three sprays in one area and it created that grease effect, so I don’t view that as an overuse or anything.

No scent, works amazing!
I love this product! I groom pets part-time and this product works amazing for cats. I actually tried it on a smaller longer haired dog this week and it worked just as good!! There is no scent to it, which surprised me, BUT it works amazing! Will definitely be adding this to my recurring collection!!

This works fabulously on the tight matts that my Maine Coon cross gets in his fine undercoat. Under his pits, and in his groin and back legs, they get so tight that scissors and the shaver can nick him. Spraying the matt thoroughly and then using a comb, loosens them up and allows a combout so the fur can be shaved back nicely.

Complete rip off!! You could fill a spray bottle with water and it would do the same thing. Heck thatâs probably whatâs being sold inside this product.. WATER. Says apply a SMALL amount to help detangle. I sprayed 3 pumps on the most tiny matted piece on my short haired cat and it didnât do a damn thing other than staying wet for over 24 hours and left her hair feeling straw and coarse. But itâs supposed to leave it feeling FABULOUS? Waste of money and time
