Easiest to clean fountain with 1 hiccup**
We have 3 cats. One figured out how to turn on our kitchen island sink when he wants water. We’d honestly be fine with this (well water) but for some reason he believes to turn off the sink, you move the faucet. He has flooded our kitchen several times*. He’s lucky he’s cute.Needless to say, we’ve tried several water fountains. We had been using one brand for years. It worked great, but we were not the greatest at cleaning it often. It had a large enough setup that fur and such fell in a lot, so it was sort of an issue, but part our fault.I don’t remember how I found this PetLibro fountain, but I was intrigued by the design and decided to try it. Let me say, I love it so much, I bought 3 for around the house. First of all, it has a smaller footprint than our last. It is way, way easier to clean. The base is what is plugged in (though it charges, so can be run for a while not plugged in). To clean then, you just pick up the bowl & walk it over to a sink to clean. This made a huge difference for us. All the cats seem to like it – even the trouble maker who only drank out of the previous fountain if he had to. The filters are easy to change, and do a great job clearing out fur, etc. As I said, we love it.There are two hiccups for us – one being solely our situation. Let me address that first. We also have a shepherd. Our shepherd for some reason decided he needed to drink out of the fountain (he was never interested in the other). The fountains were obviously not designed for 70+ lbs dogs, so we had to fill them several times a day, and the dog spilled water everywhere. Fortunately, PetLibro released a dog fountain that does filter as well, it’s just not as easy to clean as it has a traditional corded pump. The other hiccup, which is a product issue, is the motor. The motor needs replaced often – we’re talking once every month- 3 months (we’re unsure yet as we’ve just figured this is an issue and haven’t tracked it). Now the pumps in these (general) pet fountains don’t last. They are like fish tank pumps – you’re often lucky to get a year. Though these wireless PetLibro ones seem to have a much shorter lifespan – maybe as they are wireless? For us, at roughly $12 per replacement motor, it is not a deal breaker. The ease of cleaning is so worth it, and you can Subscribe & Save the motor and get them a little cheaper. But it is a hiccup with the fountain.Would I recommend these? 100% Just keep in mind the motor. Oh, and another plus – if your power goes out, since the base charges, it still will run water. It switches to the motion mode where the water runs only when something walks up to it.* if you happen to have a sink turning on cay like us, I will recommend you search for a motion sensing faucet attachment (screw on like a Brita filter) It took our cat a bit to figure it out (even the smart one), but none of them turn on the water, or move the faucet & flood the kitchen. We prefer the one available that recharges and turns off automatically after 2 minutes.I also recommend the dog PetLibro fountain, but will review it when I’ve had it longer.** I was cleaning the fountains today and discovered there were 2 small panels to take off the motor that allows me to clean them more thoroughly. From past experience, I’m confident this will solve the motor issue. At the very least, get more life out of them.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! Pay attention to this review if you want the totally wireless one
I don’t usually leave reviews, but this merits one.PAY ATTENTION if you want the totally wireless one. There is another (almost the same) one that has a wireless fountain motor, but the unit must be plugged in to work – that one is $35. It works great, but I ordered it thinking it was completely wireless and only realized that it still required a plug to run when I received it. I wanted the totally wireless version that has a battery and runs without being plugged in. This one is labeled as “battery operated” -and costs $70. I know that is a lot to pay for a pet fountain, but read on.Both fountains are almost exactly the same, except the battery operated feature lets you put the fountain anywhere you choose AND it has a couple extra features that are really convenient. 1) it has an automatic sensor that turns on when you pet gets right up to the fountain – other fountains I have tried have a wider sensor area that results in the fountain turning on and off every dang time you walk by it. This one is more sensitive and will not turn on until your pet is right at the fountain. Saving energy, battery life and annoyance. 2) it has an opaque water container, but it has a black base with two lights that will come on to indicate low battery or low water level – to let you know when to recharge and when to refill. Both fountains are SO QUIET. With no motor on the fountain, and a specific part that has a gentle slope for the water to run down, the only thing you will hear is your pet drinking. Other pet fountains I have tried advertise silence, but I could still hear the steady and constant trickle of water, because the fountain sensor would trigger anytime anyone got anywhere near it. My whole family thought something was leaking in the kitchen until we realize it was the fountain starting up all the time.If you are this far in the review, then I’m guessing you’re like me and you’ve done a ton of research on the “best pet fountain” etc. You can stop – this is the one. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. And I recommend the battery operated version, because if there is a power outage while you are out of town, your pet will still have plenty of fresh water to drink, even if the pet sitter forgot to come check on them for 48 hours –> does that story sound specific? That is the whole reason I started looking for a battery operated pet fountain in the first place.I was able to get this “battery operated” wireless pet fountain used in good condition from Amazon, paying $45 instead of $70. But, honestly now that I have it I would pay the full price if I needed to replace. Hope this review helps!

Excellent, Quality Fountain
I had been looking for a long time to find a rechargeable fountain, since I don’t have outlets nearby, and a cord would be a tripping hazard. This one is well engineered and built, and it’s thoughtfully designed: easy to assemble, easy to clean. I still leave out a bowl of fresh water, but as far as I can tell, my cat only drinks from the fountain.I have the fountain located where, in addition to the cat using it, it comes on from people walking by, and I’m getting two weeks on a charge. I change the filters monthly as recommended, although they probably don’t need it that often. Why four stars instead of five? No water stays in the bowl unless the pump is running, so if the battery dies, there’s no way for the cat to get water, even if the fountain is full. Less importantly, I wish it charged faster (although at 4-5 hours it’s not slower than similar devices), and I wish you could tell the water level without removing the bowl from the tank. It’s difficult to break open the pump to clean the impeller, especially with wet hands. These are minor complaints when compared to the quality and functionality of the fountain.
