Great toy and great customer service!
My dog doesn’t necessarily dive into the toy right away (she’s fussy), but she likes it once she gets in into it and I like that it brushes her teeth for me (I add a little toothpaste to the bristles too)! Also the customer service from pet safe is amazing – I didn’t screw the bone together tightly and she got to the screw end and chewed it a bit (not a dangerous amount but an amount that made it impossible to screw back closed) and they sent me a replacement!

Heavy chewer approved
My golden puppy LOVES this toy and when our local pet story stopped carrying it, I panicked. Have continuously repurchased this item for my dogs, lasting around 3 weeks to a month, which is good for the heavy chewer she is. Her big brother wants it if she has is to having multiple is a must.Is it indestructible? No.Do they occasionally come apart and we have to throw the whole thing away? YesIs it a toy I know my doggies will love and continue to play with? Absolutely! We do not put it in they cages as it should be at least moderately supervised but this has been one of the few toys they do not destroy within 5 minutes so it is worth every penny.

This has held up well but the treat discs don’t last long
My foster dog is a very aggressive chewer. We have gone through multiple toys made for supposedly aggressive chewers. We have been using this bone for a couple of days now, and she loves it. She’s already chewed off the treat discs, so I do wish those lasted a little longer, and that’s my only reason for giving it 4 stars. The bone was very easy to put together and I will definitely be buying more of the treats to put in it!

Fights boredom and tartar!
Meet Gerald. Gerald is the sweetest boy with the stinkiest mouth. He came that way from the shelter and we have tried anything you can think of to help. While we found plenty of remedies for his actual breath, the tartar would not budge. Then I found these bones, originally for a different dog but the whole pack loved them so I bought one for everybody. These bones last them minimally 30 minutes per play session and I have some HEAVY chewers. The bones seem to overall last 2-3 months before the bristles and surrounding plastic that holds them start to wear away. I toss them at that point to be safe. But they are worth the money in replacement because A. My dogs LOVE them. Prefer them over any other toy or bone. B. They last them a long time in comparison to other toys and chews and C. They actually clean their teeth!!! I cannot recommend them enough.Ps, this is a before and after of Geraldâs teeth after only 3 months and being used around 2-3 times a week.

THIS IS ACTUALLY A 0 STAR REVIEW – please read
I’ve nested this in the 5-star reviews intentionally, with the hopes that someone will read it and continue on to read the 1, 2, and 3 star reviews. THEY ARE TRUE. This toy unscrews very easily, the hard ends splinter terribly, the brushes are too rough and cause bleeding, and my dog has gotten her tongue stuck between the layers more than once, making her scream and requiring me to quickly rush over and unscrew it to release her tongue. Somehow, despite all of this, it is her absolute favorite toy. When I run out of treat rings for it, it will go in the garbage for good. I *hate* this toy. Please, please read the bad reviews; they’re real. If you still decide to purchase it — never, EVER leave your dog unattended with this toy.

Great for a dog that is not an aggressive chewer, but the rawhide rings are made in China (-2 stars)
TL;DR: Buy the toy if your dog is not an aggressive chewer, but throw away the Chinese-made rawhide discs and replace them with one of the sweet potato dog chews sold on Amazon. My short-term experience with this toy are extremely positive as my dog is a relatively average chewer (by that I mean he doesn’t rapidly destroy any of his chew toys) and as such I have not had any of the bristle brush destruction problems noted in a minority of reviews. The toy keeps him occupied for a while, with newly loaded discs lasting about 1-2 hour(s). The obvious problem with this product are the Chinese-made refills, which I refuse to buy given the numerous, as well as recurrent, reports of serious illness and death associated with Chinese-made rawhide products. Although PetSafe claims they have superior quality control, the reports of illness and deaths related to Chinese made dog treats/food are real and searchable online. The reason they provide for continued use of Chinese-made rawhides is the price to the customer would be too great if made in the US, which certainly isn’t going to convince any responsible pet owner to take a chance on killing their pet over a cheaply manufactured treat. I now replace suspect the rawhide discs with sweet potato dog chews that I have drilled a central hole into, which are certainly safe, made in the US, still tasty to my dog, and the relative asymmetry doesn’t bother him at all. Don’t support the practice of using Chinese-made dog treats/food for everyone’s sake.

My dog loves this bone
Keeps my dog busy! Yay.. ððShe loves trying to ” take it apart ” to get the Petsafe treat rings. Hard to find at my local pet store(s). It is very sturdy, HOWEVER, do NOT let your dog have bone AFTER she/ he gets treats off of it. I made that mistake, n my Aussie ruined it by chewing the stem.

Buy the correct size
These are great chew toys. But you HAVE to buy the proper size. I see pictures of large dogs with inappropriately small bones and owners complaining that the dog chewed them up quickly. The brushes do eventually wear, but just like a toothbrush (which these brushes basically are) they need to be replaced. If the ends get chewed/sharp I use a grinder/sander to clean them up. If in doubt, always buy the bigger size.

Tigger loved it

Our JRT loved this even before I got the treats in it. He was very busy with it for about 5 minutes before he cracked and licked one treat out of it. It will likely not last a year with that kind of chewing! It’s already very scratch. Still I feel it was a very expensive purchase and I only just realized that I will need to buy special disc shape treats to refill it – so I am super happy he likes it and that it it tired him out.
