Customers say

Customers appreciate the pet toy for keeping their dogs engaged and active during mealtime. They find it works well and is a good product overall. However, some customers find it noisy on hardwood floors and the clear plastic creates noise when it’s jostled. There are also complaints about the toy coming unscrewed too easily. Some customers have concerns about the toy opening easily and chewability. Opinions vary on durability and size.

    Useful, fantastic and occupying
Reason for purchasing: My two dogs – a 28 pound miniature australian shepherd and a 42 pound siberian husky would eat so quickly it was beginning to edge towards causing health issues. I needed to slow them down and stimulate their minds because they are both smart and energetic breeds.Size choice: The ball comes in two sizes and the cut-off is just under my smaller dog’s size. I bought two of the larger balls because they hold two cups of food (something few of these types of toys will do) and because the size seemed more difficult for the dog to destroy.Dispensing: You can adjust it “once.” There is a hole in each end of the egg with little rubber “fingers” sticking out from the egg across the hole. You trim these rubber “fingers” to adjust for your kibble size and how fast you want it to dispense. This does have some drawbacks if you ever switch kibble or wanting to make it easier then harder as the dog “gets the hang of it” as once the “fingers” are trimmed there is no changing it.Ease of use (me): Difficult to unscrew after use but that is fine with me. I would rather they stayed closed than open while the dog is batting, pawing and nosing the toy. As mentioned previously the larger version does hold about two cups (or a bit more) and so I am able to feed my dogs each their entire meals without refilling the balls. The balls are made of hard plastic and so on hard flooring will make racket – plan accordingly.Ease of use (dogs): I initially filled the balls, cut up a hot dog and put the hot dog under the ball. When the dog nosed the ball not only did she get the hot dog but kibble also came out. I repeated this with one hot dog per dog once. The next day I placed their kibble in their balls, and in their crates (to keep them from switching balls) without dinner bowls. After several minutes of sniffing around each dog began to paw, nose and flip the balls. The mini aussie will even make it spin on end across her entire crate to make it dispense more. I have owned the balls for roughly a month and the dogs know exactly what to do with them.In summary -Pros:Slows dogs eating down considerablyMentally exercises the dogCan be customized for different sized kibble and dog abilitiesAble to take rough play – my dogs purposely run them into the sides of the crates to make them dispense and there isn’t one crackAble to hold each dog’s entire meal – a huge reason I bought this one over others on the marketLarger size prevents ball from disappearing under furniture or appliances (I cannot speak to the smaller size ball in this aspect)Stays closedNeutral:Can be noisy on hard flooring due to being made of hard plastic – plan accordinglyCons:Can only customize “once” or only to make the ball easier and not more difficult

    Its not a chew toy!!
Please don’t mistake this toy as a chew toy! Its purpose is for your dog to roll it around and have the kibble fall out. Don’t let your dog play with this unattended. It is pretty sturdy but there is no doubt in my mind that a larger dog could easily break it and hurt itself. With that being said….I love it, and so does my Chow mix. He played with it for about an hour the first time I gave it to him. I had no problem with kibble falling out to easy and his kibble is not very large. As a matter of fact I had to cut some of the stoppers off inside the openings. He is a bit on the lazy side, but I love it cause he is a greedy thing and can empty a kong within a few minutes. So this keeps him moving somewhat for a longer period of time and keeps him busy. He can also pick it up and carry it around the room.I also got one for my 9 mth old Husky but she still likes to chew on it, so I am still teaching her how to play with it the right way and I am sure that she will also enjoy it in no time. She is a picky eater and I am hoping that she will enjoy her meals more if they fall out of this egg.I got the large and I was surprised how big they were! They definitely hold a lot of kibble. The more kibble is inside the easier it will fall out. After a while when there is only a small amount of kibble left it seems to be more challenging to get the kibble to fall out. So if you want to make it harder on your dog just put a smaller amount of kibble in it.Attached is a video of my 7 year old Chow mix. He is not big on toys but he really enjoys this as he is very food motivated. I can only recommend it, but like I said before, it’s not a chew toy and you may have to take a little bit of time out of your busy schedule to teach your dog how to play with it the correct way. ;-)I could see a more active dog having a lot of fun with this thing. 🙂

    Finally…some peace!
Let me start by saying I work from home. Now to my dog…if I am home, that means that I am there to play with him and entertain him and walk him and love him. My boss, on the other hand, would prefer that I spend 8 hours a day working on deliverables for our clients. Until my dog and my boss can come to an agreement, I have to do what my boss wants since in the end, that is what keeps the kibble coming.I have quite a few doggy-puzzles in this house so that I can work in peace. The Hide-a-Squirrel was great but eventually was destroyed. Bones are great as long as you can supervise. Kongs are probably the greatest invention for dogs on the face of the planet. I read about the Squirrel Buddy and Kibble Nibble when I was getting ready to buy a Tug-A-Jug. I tend to give one puzzle at a time so the dog doesn’t get bored. I haven’t tried the other products yet, but for the Kibble Nibble:1) My dog is on large breed Iams puppy. His kibble is average sized, not too large. The kibble came out at an acceptable, easy pace but to make it last longer and keep him occupied I chopped up some carrots and put those in as well. The larger carrots help slow down the flow of kibble. At the end, I just dump the carrots into his bowl and then wash the toy.2) It holds up well to his pawing it around and even dropping it off of the sofa. However, he has tried to chew on it to get the treats out and this definitely was not meant to be a chew toy (teeth marks appeared quite quickly!). When he starts gnawing on it, I take it away from him since usually that’s when there’s nothing left. I think he could make quick work of destroying it if left alone.3) The way you adjust the flow of kibble according to the box is to cut off the little prongs on the inside of the ball that hold the kibble in (it’s the same with the squirrel buddy) The only problem is that once you do that, you can’t put the prongs back!4) It is pricier than some of the other toys.Basically, it costs a little more and it doesn’t seem able to stand up to chewing like a Kong. But the way that it moves and rattles has been very different and fun for the dog. I would definitely say this is worth keeping in the house if you need to keep your pup occupied when you are doing something, but I wouldn’t recommend leaving him unattended for the day with this since an aggressive chewer could probably destroy it pretty quickly. For that, I’m sticking with a frozen Kong or the squirrel dude!Oh and one other thing–I bought all the large sizes of these toys for my dog, and they are all the same color! (I guess they use color to differentiate between sizes). That’s okay but I do wish they were different colors. We have way too many purple toys in this house.Update 6/2013: Some of the plastic bumpers have worn off, but the toy has still held up okay!

My dog wolves down food and actually sounds like a rutting pig. I even add a substantial amount of water so he sort of has to drink/eat (also helps digestion). I heard about these balls to increase the time it takes him to eat, and this is the one I purchased. Had to take out only a few of the rubber pieces and my dog rolls it around for about 1/2 hour to get all the kibble out. The kibble are small/medium size. Only issue, and it is not a big issue, the last 3-4 kibble won’t come out so we have to play a bit of a game with those. I can’t say enough good things about this one, have recommended it to friends.

Hace exactamente lo que dice. Le mostré un par de veces cómo funciona a mi perro y con eso fue suficiente. Mi perro se aburre rápido de los juguetes pero me gusta dejarle croquetas por si tiene más hambre sepa dónde encontrarlas.

Would be OK if it stayed shut but opens during normal use with no way to secure shut.

These are great feeders for large dogs. Keeps them amused and fed, for a while, although our lab can get it apart eventually no matter how tightly it is screwed on. Also good for their digestion, as, a typical lab, he otherwise gulps his food. Also holds the portion size for a full meal of kibble. Came very quickly. Good service.
