Fun for a while
Cat seems entertained by it and while I don’t think it’s truly random it does work well. The laser is bright and it’s got a pretty good battery life. It really only holds their attention on the fastest setting or if I’m holding it manually which kind of defeats the purpose of having an automatic one.

Innovative and fun for cats, but they may bore of it
This toy is a really cool idea. Cats love laser pointers, and this automates the process of moving the pointer so the cats can play on their own!Each cat has its own preferences, and we have 6 (yes, six) cats so we see a variety of different play habits. When I first set this up, all the cats were intrigued. I have it set to run automatically (there are several different modes), so it runs periodically for 10 minutes at a time. After a couple days of this, however, most of the cats lost interest. But one of our cats still chases after it almost every time she sees it, and another one seems to enjoy just staring at it but is too lazy to chase it anymore. After leaving it off for a few days, some did gain interest again.So I’d say this is not for every cat, but for some it provides lots of entertainment. When running purely on the internal rechargeable battery power, I think it worked for about 5 days of periodic operation. But now I have it plugged in with the included USB-C cable (AC adapter must be provided separately) so it can run indefinitely. Very good design there.My only ideas for improvement would be to allow more customization of the operation. I’d like to be able to restrict the lateral (side-to-side) movement so it can work better in a long skinny area where there are obstacles on the sides where you don’t want it to point. Also it would be nice to be able to configure the movement a bit (like more slow, or more fast — now it’s somewhat random). But this is a pretty good design as it is, even if not suitable for all possible locations.

It’s nice the laser is bright. But it doesn’t move fast enough and the cats get bored even when you put it way up on a cabinet
