You need something to keep Fido busy, and to keep yourself from going bonkers from the sound of doggie claws clicking on your floor, but you’re faced with a dilemma: do you invest in a puzzle feeder, or a lick-a-mat? Which one will Fido like better? With this affordable set, you don’t have to choose; bothâand more!âare included in a price that’s comparable to many individually packaged dog feeding toys.All of the items included are supposed to be made out of silicone, and that appears to be true from the feel and flex of the material. Both the maze feeder and the lick-a-mat have an array of thin suction cups covering the bottom surface (kind of like a starfish), to keep them anchored to any hard surface while Fifi chases around her kibble or peanut butter. The maze feeder is deep enough to hold a decent amount of food for dogs in the small to medium-large range, and the lick-a-mat has a variety of textures to entertain your pup. The bonus spatula, travel water bowl, and clicker are great if you need those, too, or nice to share with a local animal shelter if you don’t.Our Shetland Sheepdog, Charlie, often doesn’t have much patience with puzzle feeders, but he loves lick-a-mats with peanut butter, so I was interested to see how he would respond to these. First this got to me the day after I ordered it which is supersonic fast here in the rural areas I live in.You get a very nice slow eating dish, a lick mat, spatula for spreading things on the lick mat, a collapsing travel bowl and just for the heck of it I guess a little training clicker on a spiral wrist cord. Everything except the clicker is 100% silicone. The bottom of the slow feed bowl and lick mat are covered with small suction cups. These suction cups kept both pieces stuck to our laminate floor like super glue during feeding time but were easy to lift off afterwards.Iâm taking care of a young little untrained rascal while a friend is hospitalized and he usually gulps his wet food down in about 30 seconds and tryâs to muscle in on his feline brothersâ food. I spread the wet food out on the mat and put some dry in the bowl for him. I went and fed the cats, did sanitation duty and before I left he was ready to play but still had food left. He ate about a third less than usual because he didnât just inhale it all. I call that a win! The silicone is super easy to clean.Slowing down his eating has really helped this little guys digestive system. I would have been fine paying the $13.99 for just the two main pieces, the rest were a bonus that makes this set a good value. I highly recommend!
