Great fun & slows down the gulping!
The dish itself is heavier than I thought it would be and has a heavy duty rubber mat on the bottom which is supposed to keep it from sliding on the floor. The dish itself was very easy to figure out. To open it, you line up the triangles (one on the yellow part and one on the clear lid) which allows you to pull off the clear lid to put the food inside. There is also a little expander which can be raised or lowered depending upon what sized dog food you are using so that it only lets a few pieces out at a time. For smaller dog food, you can lower the “gate” and for larger dog food you can either raise the gate up or remove it.The entire thing is washable and pops apart easily, so cleaning will be much easier than with the solid 1-piece dog dishes! It claims to be dishwasher safe on cooler temperatures due to the rubber which will disfigure if you use hot water. I plan to just wash with a sponge. The clear top portion has holes in it. I figured it was to help remove the lid but the holes are smaller than my pinky finger so be careful if children are pushing their fingers through, as they might get stuck. The picture above is just under 2 cups of food and my dog is roughly 90lbs. I am thinking about attempting this with my 6 lb dogs, as the paperwork states that this is for all sized dogs. I have not tried it yet and do not want to have a mutiny on my hands if I attempt to give my little dogs food out of my big dog’s new “toy”.At first, when I put it on the ground for dinner, he was thrilled to eat, which quickly gave way to confusion when he realized that only a few pieces were getting loose at a time. My dog did *not* use his feet to paw at the dish as the video showed, but instead used his nose to swivel the dish in circles to release the food. I do feel a little bad as I did not discover the inside “gate” until he was half done with the food. Next time, I will open the gate all the way for him since he’s a bit larger. As it was, it took my dog 20 minutes to completely finish the 2 cups of ProPlan dog food which normally takes him about 3 minutes (if that). The little air holes in the top of the plastic drove my dog crazy and provided some much needed laughter as we watched him desperately attempting to get his food. He wagged his tail madly for the entire 20 minutes. I could tell he was having a great time, which made it worth watching.I only found one real CON in the whole experience. We have smooth hard wood floors and the dog dish did not last long against the floor. Pretty soon he was sliding it all over the floor like a hockey puck in his desperate attempt to get his tongue into the grooves to nab the food. I wound up holding it between my feet so he could get the last bits clean. He loved it. Very nice product! This worked MUCH better than the regular slow feeders we have to use with him. Without any kind of slow feeder, he would have this food eaten in roughly 30 seconds. I am much happier to know that he’s not burping with indigestion because it took him 20 minutes to consume his meal.

    Not dishwasher safe
This is great but unfortunately it’s not dishwasher safe. The clear piece shrunk and warped.

    Love this product
I recently purchased a slow feeder for my dog, and I have to say, it has made a noticeable difference in his eating habits! The rotating lid design is brilliant—it really encourages him to slow down while eating, which is great for his digestion. The material feels durable and safe, and I’ve found it easy to clean. A quick hand wash does the trick, so I don’t spend too much time cleaning after meals. Plus, I love that it challenges him to think and work for his food, which keeps him engaged and entertained.Overall, I’m really happy with this slow feeder and would highly recommend it to other dog owners looking to improve their pet’s mealtime experience!

    Slow down on that consumption
We have a couple of dogs in the family that will consume food as quickly as they can. Having one of these slow feeder bowls (or a similar one) is the only way to keep those furry friends from consuming not only their bowl of food but that of the other dogs that happen to be part of the family. In the case of my own furry boy, he’ll consume the food as quickly as he can whether it is in the slow feeder bowl or not, the difference is that it takes him about 3 or 4 times longer (if not slightly more) to do so when it is served in the slow feeder bowl compared to just putting it in a regular food bowl. The same is true of one of the “grand dogs” in the family. The grand dogs visit every now and then and their humans sometimes forget the food bowls, so in our case I got this slow feeder bowl to serve as a spare and/or give us an extra that can be used while the regular dish is being cleaned.

Effective at keeping your dog from eating their food too quickly
I actually bought this for a letter of 10 Golden Retriever puppies. That was not such a good idea. When I put it in their enclosure, the competition for the food was pretty intense and the puppies were not getting enough food. However, when I use this for my adult Golden Retrievers, it was a hit. They seem to like working for their food, instead of just having it freely available. Golden Retrievers are smart dogs, so they caught on very quickly. I normally free feed them, and two of them were getting a little too skinny, but they seem to eat more when they have to work for it. I don’t know if this would be a typical of other dogs, but it certainly works for ours. It has a good design, and is a good value at this price point. It is heavy enough that the dogs can’t move it around easily which is important, although I would prefer a different color, that doesn’t seem to matter to the dogs at all.

    Durable but lightweight
For reference: I ordered the “Green: A-beginner” bowl. The color is more blue in person. This is a decent dog food slow feeder bowl. It feels durable but the outside sidewalls are a little thin compared to a previous bowl I’ve owned. It comes with anti-slip grips for the bottom but the bowl itself is lightweight so it still slides on my ceramic tile floors. I like that it’s (top rack) dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. We use homemade dog food so I just smoosh the food into the grooves; this bowl definitely helps my dog slow down when eating. The overall size seems to work well for my medium dog. I’m not sure how much dry food this would hold but it seems like it would probably be better for smaller kibble.
