Customers say
Customers find the pet toy fun for cats and consider it cute. However, some report issues with the build quality, length, and hang strength. The green hanger is flimsy and the safety clip breaks easily. Some customers feel the string could be longer or adjustable. There are mixed opinions on the hang strength and value for money.

Perfect kitten prey – keeps them active and exercised
With three kittens in the house that are only six months old, I like to find ways to keep them active. I also like to wear them out before bedtime so they sleep through the night. Many of the toys I’ve found that work well for this require my interaction – The Da Bird Value Pack (Includes 1 Da Bird Pull Apart Cat Toy & 2 Replacement Feathers), laser pointers, Zucker Feather Products Natural Peacock Eye, Natural, 12-Pack, which makes it difficult to find time on busy nights.I found the Ethical A-Door-Able Plush Bird Cat Toy with Feathers at a locally owned pet store and thought it looked interesting. I put it up when I arrived home that day and the kittens went absolutely nuts!!It simply hangs around the door frame, but it doesn’t attach. The `clips’, for lack of a better word, are designed similarly to a stethoscope, and you simply hang a clip on either side of the door frame. The bird toy hangs from a string attached to the center of the clip. There is a breakaway so cats don’t get hung on it, and the clip itself can fall away if tugged hard enough. However, the kittens never pulled the clip down with normal play. The string attached to the bird is elastic, so when the bird is pulled, it bounces all around in the air, swings to and fro, and makes the little bird an eminently appealing piece of kitten prey. Buckaroo was the first to catch the bird and then walked around the bathroom and hall where I’d hung it growling as fiercely as he could at the other kittens when they came near it. Do you think it damages a kitten’s psyche when you laugh at their growls? It was too adorable! It wasn’t long before the other two kittens got a turn at the bird and they played past the point of exhaustion. When one got too tuckered out, it would lay nearby watching another kitten play with it, but none of them would leave it completely until I put it away at night. I wasn’t worried about them getting hurt, but I did think the noise they made playing with this toy would keep me awake. As one would expect with most well-loved pet toys, the bird started losing parts early. The feathers used for wings were the flimsiest pieces and the first to go, but the eyeballs weren’t too far behind. After that, the bird stayed intact. The toy handled a lot of intense kitten play for a solid month before the elastic string finally snapped. The kittens now play with the wingless, eyeless bird on the ground, but I am buying a replacement for them right away. I looked for a replacement toy for the clip, but don’t see one. That would be the best improvement I could recommend to the manufacturer, Ethical Products, Inc. Replacement toys would be a nice addition to their product line and more green than replacing the unbroken clip every time the attached toy breaks.

Cat loves this thing
I have large door frames so the green door frame holder doesn’t even come close to fitting. Instead, I tied two shoe strings together, then tied a couple knots on each end, and shut each side in a door. It’s pretty easy to take up and down and I don’t have to worry about the cat ripping it down. The green hanger is pretty flimsy.I also tie a knot around the safety clip so the bird doesn’t come off the line. He pulls it back and slingshots it down the hallway and attacks it. If the clip isn’t tied off, it comes apart and he proceeds to annihilate that poor bird. Tying the safety clip off makes it last much longer.I think I’ve bought about 5 of these. My cat plays with them all the time but is super aggressive and tears them apart. But he gets so excited about them, so I keep getting them.

Cats loved it, but barely lasted 30 minutes
My cats LOVE these kind of hanging bungee toys so I was excited to see this one go on sale. I cut the tail feathers off right away because my one cat has pica worse than any dog and would just eat them, but the feathers on the side are glued on nicely enough I wasn’t too worried. As soon as I got it out, they were immediately all three right there jumping, batting, and chasing after it. My special-needs guy (pictured) was especially obsessed with it. He had to have both his knees repaired a couple years ago so toys like this are great to help him keep building muscle and confidence.Unfortunately, it took less than three play sessions, maybe 30 minutes total, before the seam at the bottom of the toy popped open and stuffing and fuzz went everywhere. HUGE danger for the cat with pica! (Which is why I only put the toy out when I could supervise.) I’ll have to see if I can sew it back together or replace the toy with something more sturdy. It’s a shame since they had so much fun with it.

Most adored toy.
My younger cat adores this thing. This is our third after he played with the first two til they broke. Iâve also tried the mouse versions, but he didnât really like it.The only cons are thatI donât like the over the door function as the little rubber covers fall off and it scrapes the paint. I remove it from that and hang it from a ceiling hook, but this leads to the string being way too short.

Cats enjoy it!
It’s not their favorite toy, by any means, and while I sometimes have to go swat it a couple times myself in order to get them interested, I’m happy to have found a toy they can use (mostly) by themselves. It has served as a nice distraction for them while I’m trying to make the bed or fold laundry, both activities they usually try to “help” with.I’ve seen quite a few door hanging toys, but picked this one due to the several safety features (non-permanent door attachment and break-away clip) and am quite pleased. I would not suggest leaving this up all the time, however, and I only put it up when I am going to be in the vicinity, just in case.

Our Kittens love these!
Our kittens love these so much that we have purchased multiple. The first one didnât even get hung from the doorway before the one kitten stole away with the bird. The bungee has a tear away feature, however the clip has broken on every single one of these. We eventually just tied it together- and they havenât been able to tear it down from the doorway. They do enjoy pulling it as far as they can and then letting it go to snap away. Weâve certainly got our moneys worth of entertainment out of them.

This is a lovely little toy. The cat kept going back to it to amuse herself. Cat (used to the outdoors) went mad over the little bird itself even more – drag it round and you will see! Is very sturdy given the pummelling and biting this toy has taken. I was also surprised how often the toy stayed hanging off the door despite it being dragged away almost to another room. it can ping back with strength (!!) but will come off the door frame sometimes if overstressed which I see as a good safety mechanism. Only once had to re-tie the string – and the string length can be shortened. As with all stringed toys best used supervised.

My cats absolutely love these things! I put one on almost every door frame in the house and can hear my cats using them all the freaking time.

Una brillante idea si a tus gatos les llaman la atención los juguetes con plumas. Despues de muchos jaloneos el pajarito se zafó pero ahora uso el aditamento que cuelga de la puerta para colgar otros juguetes y que tengan un poco de variedad
