How to Train Your Pet Away From Unwanted Area:
SVD.PET pet training mat provides three modes: Static Mode, Beep Mode, Static+Beep Mode. Place the training mat where your pet is not welcomed – on the couch or the counter. When your pet steps on the training mat, it will emit a harmless static pulse or a high-frequency beep so your fur baby knows the area is off limits.
For sound sensitive pets or small pets, start with the Beep mode. In this mode, set the intensity level at 4 or 5. As your pet starts to learn the area is off limits, you can begin to decrease the intensity until your pet is fully trained.
If your pet doesn’t respond to the Beep mode, switch to the Static + Beep mode. 5 intensity levels static pulse will be optional according to sensitivity of different pet. Starting with a lower lever and increasing the level only when it is needed. As your pet starts to learn the area is off limits, you can begin to decrease the intensity and switch to “Beep Mode”.
If you don’t want to be disturbed by the high frequency beep sound, you can switch the training mat to static mode. In this mode, the training mat will only emit static pulse.
* What should I do if my pet does not respond to the training mat or if it seems inactive?
Here are several steps you can try: Adjust to higher intensity level or a different mode (such as beep only or beep with static); Clean your pet’s paws and shave excess and protruding hair in between pads; Please do not put anything on the training mat, and keep it dry and clean; Tighten the screws between the controller and the mat. The tool is included in the package; Check the battery is working. Replace it if necessary.

Easy to set up the training mat: 
Attach controller to the mat
Align the electrical terminals on the back of the controller with the holes on the mat. Ensure the controller is on the upside of the mat.
Insert and tighten the screws
Insert and tighter the two screws through the back of the mat. Screws and the screwdriver are included in the package.
Insert a 9V battery
Remove the battery cover and insert a 9V battery in the controller. (Battery is not included)
Turn on the controller
Press and hold the power button down until you hear two beeps to turn the controller on.
How to test the pet training mat with the tester:
Turn on the training mat by holding the power button for 3 seconds. You will hear 2 beeps.Set the mode to “Beep + Static” on the mat’s control box.Place the bottom of the tester on the mat. The bottom of the tester should touch 2 lines on the mat. Keep your hand away from the mat.If you hear a beep and the LED lights on the mat’s control box flash, it means your training mat is working properly.

UPDATED. skeptical at first…was amazed. it really worked. I was sold on this product, until now
Update: Unit stopped working after only 4-5 months. We did train our dog not to counter surf using this mat. She did well to where we stopped using it, but she decided to try surfing again and pulled stuff out of the sink/garbage; dangerous for her. I decided to turn it back on while we were away. I replaced new battery. It would not power on so I had to fix the tangs to ensure a good connection to the battery. Now it just randomly goes off, which is ok but freaks the dog out when alarm goes off. Shopping for another solution.I was hesitant to buy based on various reviews but our dog was determined to counter surf while we were away. I did some research and found this one to try. it comes rolled up. popped in a 9V battery and set the alarm only, you have to hold the power button for a couple seconds. did some testing. it was not going off when i put my foot on it. found out that if you are wearing tennis shoes it will not go off. took my shoe off and it alarmed (with my socks on). I set the alarm/shock to med and set it down in front of our counter/sink and we went out. We monitored our dog cam and saw her go to the counter, it alarmed and she immediately backed away. have not had an issue with her surfing since. note, if you spill water (or drops) on it, it will keep alarming. You need to turn it off and wipe it down, before turning it back on.

Excellent Pet Training Mat
Came as advertised. Rolled it out, hooked it up and my dog stepped in between the lines the first time. It was funny. But the second time he stepped on the lines and that was all it took. I left the mat down for one week then put it away. He will not go in the area that we put the mat. It was on the lowest setting too! Love it, IT WORKS!

Very disappointed
It only functioned for two days. Changed the batteries thinking that was the problem and it never worked again. Got so upset that threw it to the garbage. Not willing to waste time and money going to the post office to return it

Work great
I’ve purchased these a few times using the different sizes. They work great to keep my pups off the furniture.Recent we rescued a cat and he thought the counters were better than the litter. Big no no. After the vet and change of litter with no change I put a pad where he was going. It worked. His stubborn self finally using the box.Tested on myself. Those bubble gun shock things have more a shock then the pads. Even at high level. It’s not hurting them. Just a scare

Shocking!
I tried it out myself before the cats and it gives one heck of a jolt! Many of the poor reviews are from people using it the wrong way! If you look at their pictures, the mat is upside down. Of course it wouldn’t work for them because they couldn’t follow directions! Note: wires bare and up , not down with the plastic covering them. It’s really not that hard!

This Training Mat is Great
I’ve had this training mat for months now and it works great and I’ve used the same 9 volt battery continuously without it running down. I originally used a child gate to prevent my dog’s from sneaking into the front living room to do their business instead of going outside, but they would move the gate with their paws and go anyway. I laid this mat in front of the child gate and problem solved. Now they go outside.Oh and the shock isn’t painful, it is just static like when you touch a metal knob on a dry day and its adjustable. The dogs don’t even jump back, they just step back and growl at it. I use it with the alarm on so that I can say “no” also if it goes off and let them outside. I would watch watch them at first around it, so they don’t attack the thing, but saying “no” worked for my dogs.

Dog’s Learns Quickly
This product is easy to put to use quickly. The directions are very clear on how the device works. My only suggestion, is that when I first started testing it with my fingers, it would not react. I realized I needed to press a little harder. There was no problem when my dog attempts to get on it. The beep mode rings loud and clear. I have not used the static mode yet, because I have not had to. The beep mode works just fine. I can tell my dog is just beginning to learn she is not allowed on the couch, as when I remove the device it takes her a lot longer to attempt to get on the couch. I was so happy with the results, I ordered a second one for my love seat. Happy Dog Owner
