Works well with both Mac and PC
My institution kept “forgetting” to find one of these for me, so I decided to purchase one for myself. I bought this one because of the brand name, and I liked it so much, I bought a second one for a back up. Plugged into both a new Mac Book and Dell desktop, and it worked right away without drivers or hassle. Now, my students don’t have to wait while I walk in front of them to advance the slide on the awkwardly placed keyboard.Other reviewers noted that the weakness with this product was the battery door where the USB bit is also stored. As a preventative, I just use a little plastic box to carry the USB bit, and then I put the whole thing into a pencil case. That way, I won’t forget to take it with me, and it keeps me from having to open the back compartment every use.For $14, this works great and feels much better in my hand than the wand style.

    Absolutely the BEST!
I do some 20-30 one week presentations a year. I show in the screen Powerpoints, PDFs, and CAD drawings. After trying a few remote presentation pointers (even big names as MS or Logitech), none had the full functionality I needed, and some missing feature would make me go near the laptop and do the thing I needed with the good old mouse, thus losing momentum in the presentation (if you do these things, you know what I mean).A while ago I bought the Targus AMP02US, and leaving aside its 1960 look, the not so great buttons, and that the presentation button would send only the F5 command to Powerpoint (thus starting the presentation always at slide 1), it had all I needed: Mouse control, laser, next and previous slide and more. It was also difficult to do drag and drop keeping the left click down and use the mouse stick to move the cursor at the same time, plus the laser button couldn’t be smaller. But all in all it was better than any previous pointer I had used. Then I upgraded to the AMP09US. It felt like a dream come true. All these problems where solved and a few bonuses were added:- The look is slick and elegant.- The receiver goes stored in the same body of the pointer, no need for a bag, no loose parts.- There is room for a spare battery in the pointer, so you can change it at once if you run out of juice in a middle of a presentation.- The presentation button sends now the right command to Powerpoint: Shift+F5, thus starting the presentation at the slide you’ve got in the screen.- The laser button is a big handy one, and is the same that moves the mouse cursor.- When in mouse mode, if you press the mouse stick (or laser button) it works as left click, thus making the drag and drop work like a dream.- The lightened buttons are white for next/prev slide, and green around the laser/mouse button.- In pointer mode (the central stick is the laser, the side buttons are next/prev slide) you can lock the non-essential buttons (then a discrete red light goes on), avoiding accidental commands.- In mouse mode (the central button is moves the cursor, and if pressed does left click, the side buttons are mouse left/right) the light is always green.- The color change is nice, because you look at the pointer and can see if you are in mouse/pointer -locked- mode, then hit the right command without much thinking.- Plus all the little features like screen darkening, presentation on/off, and multimedia volume.- In mouse mode the presentation on/off and screen darkening buttons will open MyPC folder, and hit the Windows Start Button. So you can access or run anything in the PC.- And for those who still stick to their Macs, it has a Mac mode too.If you are slightly dissatisfied with your current pointer, feeling that you still get the job done but something is missing, that the pointer could be a bit more comfortable, this one is the way to go. I couldn’t be happier with this product. That’s THE pointer. By the way, I’ve bought it at the airport for $80, because the nice look and specs looked promising; it really delivers all it says.If you run presentations professionally, go for it, it is a worthy investment.

    A very good choice
This is an excellent presentation remote, which worked immediately when I plugged the receiver in. It looks good and is comfortable to hold.I use it in a classroom setting, and since the room is dark when presentations are being given, the light around the dial is extremely helpful. It prevents the user from straining to see where the buttons are. When a button is pressed, the response time is immediate, which prevents the temptation to press a button twice and hence move to an unwanted slide. It is intuitive to use, so even when I give it to students to use, they easily learn how to use it.The selection of buttons is brilliant – I love the fact I can start a presentation with the remote and that I can force a blank screen. These are nice features that I plan to use frequently. The reasons I gave it four stars are as follows: The USB receiver is small, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. It is really nice when it is in the computer, but I am a little concerned that because it is so small it might get lost. The little compartment to hold it is neat, but it is a little inconvenient to put it there every time I have finished using it.The laser is nice, however, as some others have said, it is a little weak. This, I would stress, isn’t a major problem. It is very nice to have the laser, but it would be nicer if it were stronger.CONCLUSION: I struggled to decide which remote to get. I was concerned with the fact that some other brands sent an F5 command to the computer when the laser was used. I am glad I choose the Targus and am very pleased with this model; I feel like I made a good choice and will likely recommend it to other teachers.

Now works great on Mac OS X
There is much to really like about the presenter. The distance from which it works, feels good in hand, extra battery holder…but one major negative is on a mac I can’t start a ppt. show using the start show button. The button will end the show but not start it. So if you do a practice run through your slides and get to the end of the show, you need to walk back to the computer to start the show. No big deal if computer is close by but a hassle if it is on the other side of the auditorium. I have tried it on OS X 10.6 and an old powerbook running 10.4. Same result. The button works fine on windows PCs. Other than this it works great. If anyone knows a fix to this problem…please post a comment.****Update**** User error on my part.If you open the back cover just above the battery there is a little sliding switch. It is very small so can be overlooked. It let’s you choose from 3 options:1) PC2) Mac KN – this is Keynote3) Mac PPTonce I switched it to mac, it works flawlessly. I updated my review to 5.

The screen blackout feature does not work, one of the reasons I chose this model. Otherwise is a very nice remote
