Fooey! Spray is so disgustingly bitter, we actually have a registered trademark to say it’s “the most bitter stuff on earth!” The extreme bitter taste comes from grapefruit skin extract and the herb known as “The King of Bitters.” These all-natural active ingredients deliver a safe, effective and powerful deterrent to chewing, biting, licking and other destructive behaviors in dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, ferrets and birds. More affordable than replacing your belongings, use Fooey! in conjunction with training methods to keep pets from licking, biting, chewing and destroying anything they might like to go after in your home.
Spray Fooey! on anything and you’ll instantly transform it into an utterly distasteful object. Alcohol-, fragrance-, odor- and dye-free, the neutral pH spray is non-flammable, non-acidic and non-caustic. Available in 4, 8 or 16 oz. bottles, it is safe for furniture, walls, wires, shoes, clothing, fencing, stables, stalls and harmful plants. It’s even safe to use directly on your pet’s skin to discourage gnawing and licking of sutures, hot spots and inflamed areas. Trust us, your dog will hate it less than the traditional head cone. You can even use Fooey! outdoors to shut down the 24-hour garden buffet and prevent deer, rabbits, woodchucks and other vermin from eating your plants and flowers. Customers appreciate the product’s longevity. However, some find the taste bitter and it lingers in the air for a few hours. Many feel it’s not worth the money. There are mixed opinions on its functionality, deterrent effectiveness, smell, spray effectiveness, and overall value.

EWWWW
Super effective! Not just on my cats either!! Be careful where you spray it, I forgot I sprayed some of my laptop cords (my cat chews on the velcro they have the most) and I’m still finding the taste on my hands randomly (even weeks later). On the plus side my cat stopped chewing on them! (At least when I can see anyway lol)And I’ve stopped picking at my own nails too!

Doesnât work.
Sprayed items that my dog shouldnât eat. He ate them anyway, with relish!!There was zero repellent in this spray. My hands, however, were bitter after anaccidental taste before I washed my hands after spraying.

Some dogs just arenât compatible
Let me say that Iâve been aware of and recommended this product for many years. Why? Iâve gotten it on my hands before. And if you buy it, you probably will too. And when that earth shattering sourness hits your lips and wonât come off, you will be a believer. However, some dogs are just built different. Some dogs have a single brain cell in their skull that is set to self destruct. If your dog has a hot spot or other wound, they probably wonât be as deterred as you would be. Why? Dogs donât understand cause and effect. Dogs just donât do great in that department and thatâs okay, we love them anyway. Some will just avoid the spray and learn, but some will just lick it endlessly and make you feel like they are just trying to spite you.As such, donât use this as your only option with a wound. Make sure to check out Elizabethan collars aka the cone of shame or alternatives. This spray must be reapplied, as licking will remove it.Let me tell your immediate future with this product: Youâre going to find out how good you are at washing your hands, because you will accidentally taste this stuff at some point. I cannot understate how sour this stuff is.

Didn’t work for my cat.
Honestly he treated it like candy. My Sil cats hate it tho. So just be mindful of your cat.

Bitter isnât the half of it!
I bought this because a friend recommended me this and she said that it worked on her pet so I thought Iâd give it a try. Well it came in the mail today and when Iâm out for lunch and I rush home thinking âyes finally I can stop my dog chewing on herself (cause itâs safe on fur) stop my bunny from chewing on my shoes and my cat from eating plastic.â When I finally come home the first thing I did was open it, excited to finally win the constant chewing battles! And it works!!! This 16 oz of bitter grapefruit skin extract works. I sprayed on my shoes, my dogs bandages, chair legs, almost everywhere! Feeling of winning was great. After spraying this bitter spray almost everywhere in the living room I went to go eat, after I was my hands of course because I did notice a small droplets on my hands (little did I know that should have been a warning to me) after eating I went to lick my fingers………. bitter is not how I would put it. It felt like my tongue was trying to reject my body. The taste was god awful, not only was the taste awful my tongue went numb, it went to the back of my throat and stayed like that for 20+ minutes. It wouldnât have been that long if I didnât do the dumbest thing and try to rinse my mouth out with water…… now the pungent flavor that was just at the tip of my tongue has now spread all inside of my mouth. I ate something out of desperation to get another flavor out of my mouth…. helped slightly. I went back to work to finish the rest of my shift, and washed my hands there (much more longer cause of what happened last time.) I am someone who usually has some candy in her bag for extra energy (Iâm a preschool teacher). Iâm starting to feel tired and pop some m&ms in my mouth……..when my tongue even went near my lips the taste came back….. now with a hint of chocolate….. knowing nothing can really help this I just tried my best to keep a poker face so my coworker wouldnât know what was wrong with me. Needless to say 10/10 stops pets from unwanted chewing…… and would recommend this product if you wanted to stop thumb sucking or nail biting. (J/K)

It works too well, extremely potent, will get on your hands and stay there
Overall this is a good product. I’m surprised some other reviewers are saying it’s not bitter – it’s insanely bitter!I have 2 bunnies and only carpet in my apt.. So they try to eat up the carpet. Wherever I spray this, they will avoid. There’s 2 big problems I have with it though1) The nozzle sucks and you will get some on your hands. You almost need gloves to spray it. Plus, it’s potent and it’s hard to scrub it off of your hands. I’ve licked my finger while eating well after 10 hours of spraying this only to get hit with a huge wave of bitterness. It’s particularly more troubling if you have cats or dogs that like to lick you… because they’ll stop once you have some of this on your hands!2) Each spray only covers a small area. I wish it covered a larger area. My bunnies will avoid wherever I spray it, but they’ll immediately find some other area that hasn’t been hit with it. It would take forever to cover the whole area.. so now I spray it, watch the bunnies to see where they’ll try to bite next, spray it, rinse and repeat… now, that wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for number 1. Each time I spray I get more and more on my hands, and since I’m waiting for the bunnies to strike again the spray is getting soaked into my skin. So now it’s: spray an few areas, furiously scrub my hands, oops missed a spot, spray a few more areas, scrub the first layer of skin off, over and over and over. It’s just a pain in the butt.Lastly, this is probably only specific to my bunnies personalities, but ever since spraying this my bunnies are way more aggressive in finding another spot to chew up. They use to run and play for a long time before calming down and chewing on carpet. Now it’s run to find an un-sprayed spot and immediately go to town. Perhaps the spray is so strong to their little noses that close to the ground that they constantly smell it and are upset – who knows.

This is the only bitter spray that actually stops my cat from punching holes in my precious houseplants or sometimes even shredding them completely. That’s how he seeks our attention when hungry. He’s fed on schedule and very often starts being anxious about 40 min before feeding time, so he looks me in the eye while chewing the plants as he knows I will definitely react to that.I tried many other sprays, and finally this one he does not like the taste of. Both him (12 year old black male) and 1 year old females sphynx hate the stuff! They may bite into a leaf or two like they used to, but soon after they stop and leave the plant alone. After a while they just learn that it is bitter and won’t try anymore. If there is a new plant in the house however they will try it and continue chewing, so I now spray every plant in their reach first thing I bring it into the house.Well, that’s the good part. The bad part is I myself cannot still learn to wear gloves while treating the plants! The stuff is impossible to wash off of your hands completely. The soap and water will take 50% of the bitterness off, but then for a few days your hands will remain quite bitter.Be very careful touching food or your face and mouth!!! Or better yet, do wear gloves!

I purchased this item to keep my budgies from chewing ornaments around the house. The budgies loves the taste even after spraying a quarter of the container on them. Just for the heck of it I touched my tongue with this solution. ð Iâm definitely not going to chew the ornaments. Product works but not for budgies.

My dog actually likes this and was licking my hands enthusiastically when I sprayed them. She seemed to like the smell on my shoes as well and it hasn’t stopped her biting unfortunately. Quite a high price to pay for something that didn’t work.
