Great Educational Gift for Younger Kids, But Too Basic for Older Ones
The United States Puzzles for Kids is a fantastic educational toy for younger children, especially those around 4 or 5. The vibrant colors, clear state outlines, and fun illustrations make learning about the U.S. map an engaging and interactive experience. With 70 pieces, the puzzle is just the proper challenge for preschoolers and kindergartners, helping them develop spatial awareness, fine motor skills, and an early understanding of geography.The puzzle includes state names and capitals, an excellent feature for introducing kids to basic geographical concepts. The large floor puzzle design makes it easy for little hands to assemble, and the pieces are sturdy enough to withstand regular play without easily bending or tearing. It’s also a thought’s a Christmas gift or educational tool for parents and teachers at home or in a classroom.However, the puzzle might feel too simplistic for 6-year-olds or children with more advanced skills. My granddaughter who is 3 and I had so much fun with this puzzle. Totally worth it and very educational

pieces don’t interlock
We probably should have figured that state shaped pieces would not interlock. They don’t. Consequently the puzzle doesn’t hold together at all. The west coast edge pieces are very narrow, so the border/frame is weak. We considered sending it back, but we do like the educational aspect. Being Rocky Mountain and Pacific NW people, we were surprised how little we know of the eastern states locations, sizes and shapes. Hoping our grandkids will become better educated than we are, we glued the border pieces to a 1/4″ plywood board. That way the grandkids can work it without getting frustrated. If you want to do this you should first scuff sand the backside of the pieces as their shiny finish is not good to glue. Also plan to spend a couple hours as you must glue and hold down one or two pieces at a time, and work your way around the puzzle, making sure interior pieces fit before gluing each border piece. It takes time to do right.The cardboard and top finish are very good quality and the kids will like the bright colored states. If you planned to let little kids work the puzzle on a table, realize that it just won’t hold together for them. Gluing the border to a board solved the problem, and hopefully the grandkids will work it dozens of times.
