The well-known ChokeFree Brand of pet restraints is now proud to offer Vel*Pro, a new mesh one-piece non-choking pet shoulder collar that utilizes a Vel-Lock Closure. Pet Retailers can now order Vel*Pro Mesh in Red, Black, Blue and Pink in five sizes that fit pets who measure from 11″ to 20″ around the chest just behind the front legs as listed below. Size is determined by measuring the pet’s chest just behind the front legs and going up an inch to allow for comfort. If the pet can tuck its head and back out, the Vel*Pro is too large and a smaller size should be selected.

ATTENTION: Sizing does NOT directly correspond to your pet’s breed or weight. Please MEASURE your pet with a tape measure and refer to our sizing chart in the pictures for the best fit before ordering.
MEASURE BEFORE ORDER: Sizes match the circumference of the pet’s chest behind the front legs. With YOUR PET STANDING, wrap a measuring tape around the pet’s chest from behind the front legs up and around forming a circle to the top of the spine. DO NOT ADD ANY SPACING SUCH AS YOUR FINGERS UNDER THE MEASURING TAPE. IT NEEDS TO BE THE EXACT MEASUREMENT.
ALL WEATHER MESH: Made with a soft, breathable air mesh, this super lightweight pet harness is perfect for any weather all year round. These harnesses are machine washable but make sure to air dry to ensure constant fit and lifetime durability.
STEP IN, VEL-LOCK & GO: Easy to put on your pet, simply have them step in and wrap the harness around the chest of the pet and secure the ring through the Vel-Lock closure. Then you are ready for your walk! Click ‘Add to Cart’ now!

Customers say

Customers find the harness comfortable and well-made. It’s easy for them to put on and off, and their dogs get used to it quickly. The harness is sturdy and durable, with strong velcro that doesn’t tear easily. Many customers are satisfied with its tracheal collapse prevention and choking prevention features. However, opinions differ on how well it fits.

    Perfect for collapsed trachea
My pup has a collapsed trachea problem and we searched and searched for harnesses that offer comfort while not putting pressure too high on the chest. This harness is perfect. It sits low on the chest, is soft fabric (some other harnesses we looked at were leather), and very friendly. They last a very long time if you leave the harness on. One of my dogs doesn’t like anything on him so I take it off after each potty break and with all that extra wear his lasted 3 years before needing to get a new one because of the Velcro wear. Wonderful product.

Great Dachshund Harness – No Choke or Rub
I got the 16″ Medium. I also ordered an 18″ larger size because feedback made me question the right size. The 18″ would have stretched out to be too big. It was a little big out of the bag. The 16″ was snug but reviews said it would stretch and it does. Perfect fit for my weenie dog. Absolutely no chocking w this harness. He could back out if he wanted to but he doesn’t even try. He measures 17″ in the chest. I can’t remember if I measured right behind the legs like this says to or at his broadest chest point used for clothes. I wanted a color that wasn’t available, but the blue is actually really beautiful on him. He’s all brown and looked very patriotic July 4th w his red leash and blue harness. If you’re unsure on size, buy 2 and send one back. It’s easier that way.

    best harness ever
The only harness in 15 years that fits my pomeranian and does not choke him. He is 15 years now and completely trained. He can ware it all day with no problem, something I never did before. It was a little tight for mty 8.5 lb chesty guy, so I got it wet and stretched it around a jar until it dried. That seemed to do the trick! I ordered a small and his hair is short. I would order a medium if he had a full coat of hair.

Great product but runs VERY small
My 20 pound small dog has always worn a size M harness. This harness is about 6″ short of meeting end-to-end when tried on. Before ordering I showed the Amazon photo and description to the Vet. She approved it to solve the problem harnesses caused: pressing on my dog’s trachea when she pulls on her leash. I’m returning this size for a larger one. It’s nice looking, easy to put on the dog yet seems like it will hold her securely. It seems durable and well-made.

Great for kitties too! One wish or seller request, tho….
Got these for our 2 house cats to use in case of emergency. They get stressed and squirmy when trying to put them in neck collars or generic harnesses. These are very quick and easy to put on our ‘non-cooperative’ girls 🙂 The material is very soft and cushiony and they tolerate them surprisingly well. The seller was a dream to work with. We weren’t sure of their sizes so we ordered 2 sizes for each to try and easily returned the 2 that didn’t fit.My only ‘complaint’ is that the seller doesn’t offer leashes in different widths/lengths to match their pretty harness colors. I searched all of Amazon and got the closest I could find but they still don’t match well 🙁

Not as good as the leather harness
I picked up a pair of Pekingese puppies last week.I love the ChokeFree harnesses, but the leather ones are a bit expensive. Since I know the puppies will grow a lot over the next couple months, I decided to save some money and ordered a couple of the velpro mesh harnesses.I have to say I was underwhelmed by the Mesh version of the ChokeFree harness. The look and light weight are fine. The fit was a different story. They are very snug! I recommend going up at least 1 size. The slot through which you put the D-ring is very small and does not have much give. Trying to get the d-ring through the slot with a tag of any sort is simply frustrating!Once it is on, it fits the puppy well.If the ChokeFree design team would true-up the sizing and improve the d-ring slot, I would be willing to try them again. I really want to like the mesh version as much as I do the leather version. I cannot do that with the current iteration.

    Perfect harness
I like the fact that it doesn’t choke my dog at all. It is very easy to put on and comfortable for him to wear. Fits perfectly!

Great for choking dogs BUT I wish it wasn’t velcro
This harness is awesome if you have a little dog who pulls a lot! My 6 month old chihuahua was choking herself on every regular harness I bought and wouldn’t stop pulling. She still pulls a lot, but she almost never chokes or coughs with this! It’s very well constructed, my only issue is that the attachment is only Velcro. There are no buckles or snaps, and it feels slightly less secure than it could be especially if you have a particularly wild dog like I do. It’s also hard to adjust it tight enough if you have a very little dog. It just doesn’t feel quite as secure as I would like. That being said it’s a very strong Velcro, and it’s pretty secure otherwise. It’s also very well constructed, and I’m happy with the quality of it for the price!TLDR- if you have a little dog who chokes on everything else it’s perfect, the adjustability is great, the quality is wonderful, but if your pup pulls a lot and is an escape artist it may not be the one for you.Update: She has grown some since buying this harness and the adjustability has been great to grow with her! I usually just put a sweater over the harness when we go out, which helps it stay secure. To be fair, I have never once had an issue with her actually escaping it, I’m just a worrier and I get nervous about it.
