Finally something to help with our GSD’s atopic dermatitis, seborrhea, and out-of-control yeast!!
We have a GSD who has had skin issues starting after puberty around ~2 years old, and the only thing that helps keep her comfortable in the Midwest’s awful mold/spore/allergy seasons (spring, summer, fall) is a weekly bath. We’ve tried OTC meds, prescription meds, shots, special diets – EVERYTHING and nothing seemed to help. We started doing weekly baths (once every two weeks in the dead of winter) with this specific shampoo and are so impressed! Her skin is no longer red and irritated, it helps keep her oily skin and coat at bay, and she’s not up half the night itching like before! We have even tried every combination of prescription shampoo, OTC shampoo and even other ones from this brand – and this one is hands down the best. The smell isn’t our favorite (tar-y smell to it a little) but it mostly goes away after a day or two. Our dog is so much happier with clean skin, knows our bathing routine so makes it easy on us, and after we let the shampoo sit on her skin/coat for a minimum of 15 minutes, we are set for 7-10 days of a shiny coat, soft skin and no dermatitis! This shampoo has saved us from constantly going to the vet for treatments and further expenses. It took us a long time to finally land on a product that works well for our dog’s skin and is cost effective. My local Walmart carries this shampoo as well, so in a pinch I have it no problem – but if your dog is running into similar issues, try this out and develop a good bathing/shampooing regimen for your dog! The trick is to definitely let the shampoo sit on the skin for a minimum 10 minutes and as an added bonus, wash their fur/hair/skin with a mild shampoo beforehand, so the “medication” portion of this shampoo can do it’s job directly at the source – on the skin. We also dilute the shampoo, roughly 2-3 tablespoons for 16 ounces warm water (add water first, then shampoo to not create suds) and use THAT to shampoo our pup. It works great, ensures that all the remaining shampoo is rinsed off at the end, and you don’t “overdue” it with the shampoo and waste any. Happy bathing!

I was happily proved wrong
I cannot say enough how much of a difference this made for my girl. I have a black pitbull I rescued a few weeks ago. She had a wet dog smell all the time that regular soaps were not helping with. She had dandruff and extremely dry skin. She had thin patches of hair and she was miserably itchy. I purchased this and followed the directions on the bottle exactly. It doesn’t have a strong smell to it. It lathered well and rinsed well with warm water. I wish I would’ve taken a before picture. Today she has softer, shinier fur. She’s so much more comfortable and less itchy. Her hair is growing back! Her hair has its color back as it grows. 80% less dandruff! An added bonus, no doggy smell. Her bed and blankets don’t smell. I don’t have to wash my hands after scratching her up. My guests actually noticed how great she looks and how you cannot smell her. No harsh smell, just no smell at all. It’s been a week since I washed her and she still has no smell! I wish I had taken before pictures but I had doubts. This product proved me wrong and I am thrilled about it.

Over the past several months our 4 yr old cattle dog developed severe itching, and a heavy doggy odor — nothing we’ve ever had with him before. Working with the vet, we’ve addressed possible infestations, we’ve changed his diet to extremely low allergy foods, but he still suffering at about the same level of itching. Our vet recommended shampooing with Mal a Ket, and we’ve gone through a bottle of it. Because of his continued itching, I read a lot of reviews and then chose this shampoo to try next. In truth — the poor dog is still itchy, much to the dismay of the whole family, the vet, and especially the dog. BUT — I will say that his odor has much improved. With the Mal a Ket, the odor would improve for a day or so, then return… but with this shampoo, it actually seems like there’s been a change in his system, and the odor is pretty much gone. That’s a huge win, even though we’re still trying to figure out the itching. The negative about this shampoo — it does stink, especially if you smell it in the bottle. But thankfully it only leaves a very slight tarry odor on the dog, and considering the improvement in the overall doggy odor, I’m perfectly happy with that. Another comment — it does NOT leave the dog’s hair shining and glorious, as is indicated in other reviews. It’s clean and fine, but actually, is hair was always silky and shiny, even at the worst smell and itch — so with this shampoo it’s actually not as soft and shiny as has always been his normal. That’s a negative, along with the fact that it just didn’t work on the itching. Positive is that it’s easy to use, and rinses out easily — and works on the staggering doggy odor. All in all, mixed for me. When this bottle runs out I’m going to try something else, hoping it will leave him more silky, with a more pleasing shampoo scent. BUT — if the doggy odor returns, I’m going straight back to this stuff, no question.

I am buying this shampoo for last 2 or 3 years! Really like it! Gives lots of foam, economical in usage, has nice smell as for me (medical).
