Customers say
Customers find the chicken treat dispenser entertaining for their chickens. It’s well-made and durable, made of thick plastic. They appreciate its scratch resistance, value for money, and concept. However, some customers have reported issues with the holes being too small for large treats to fall out. Opinions vary on the entertainment value and treat dispensing.

Entertains the chickens
It took a few days for the chickens to figure it out. I had to help them a bit by shaking it and letting them see that stuff would fall out, but now they are hooked! They love pecking at it and moving it around with their feet. Great value for the money. It is pretty large and could probably stand to be a bit smaller, but who knows if that would make it to hard for them to use. Definitely worth the purchase.

BEWARE – Not the same product as pictured
I wish I had read the reviews before buying. We purchased one of these a few years ago and our girls love it. Even our female turkey loves it so I wanted a new one so I can give the 2 turkeys their own when they move to my son’s school (SAE project)… but the new one has HUGE holes and the scratch will most likely fall.out all at once. That is not much entertainment! And the picture on the box it came in shows the slotted toy, the one that works!! The slots/slits could be slightly bigger but it works pretty well with scratch. Injust dump the big stuff later in the day for them to find but the new toy will most likely dump out the treats pretty much all at once. This is not why I purchased this product. AND you can’t get a refund or replacement from the manufacturer!!! I guess I will try it for cat treats.

Durable Boredom Buster
I have purchased several “enrichment toys” for my chickens and this is by far the best. It’s easy to open/close, scratch, cracked corn and mealworms dispense nicely, and it’s thick plastic so super durable. Obviously you are not putting peanuts or larger treats into this treat roller but if the holes were much bigger, it would not take the chickens any time to empty it! The point is to give them a project and some treats along the way. It’s a great product.

My chickens love it
So far mostly good. We’ve been using black soldier fly larvae in it, and some of the larvae are a bit too big to fit through the holes. Also only filling it half way seems to work better then filling it to the brim.Despite it not coming with instructions or recommendations it was easy enough to figure out and the chickens love it. It really helps keep their minds occupied so they spend less time pecking at each other.I’ll probably order 2-3 more after the 2nd run goes up and the next batch of pullets are ready to integrate into the flock.

Product changed
I bought this for my girls to keep them entertained. Bought one in July and they loved it. Kept them entertained for awhile. And they fought over it. This is the one with slits. Decided to buy another to keep the fighting down. The second one arrived but the product changed. Was still in the same packaging with the slit pictured on the box. This one has holes on the side with cheap plastic âpolesâ that fall out. Three clips of this one and all the treats fall out. Not much enrichment with this one. I love the first one as it keeps them engaged, but the second one not so much.

Depends on your chicken?
Both of my rhode island reds ignored the toy despite it’s their picture on the packaging LOL…I’m going to guess it’s because they are spoiled since my family drops food on the ground or puts it in their bowl OR they just can’t see? (Not even rolling it in front of them did anything.)A wild chicken that we took in absolutely LOVES this thing (she’ll use her feet sometimes to move it around). She figured it out in seconds when first presented to her. She goes crazy when she sees the toy =)UPDATE 04/22/2023: The “wild” chicken has taught the 2 rhode island reds as well as 2 two month old chickens. They all just watched her and now they all fight over the toy. My second toy is now being put to good use.

My chickens love it!11
This is my second one as my first one disappeared. I wondered if my chickens would figure it out at first but the moment I put it on the ground they were immediately scratching at it and eating the scratch within.

Chickens aren’t enamored
We have a mixed flock of 12 hens. The Red Stars were immediately interested and dominated it. But they lost interest. A week later it was still half full. I moved it to a different part of their large run and some Wyandottes and Ameraucaunas started taking interest. We will see if it holds their interest at all. I got a couple of other food toys to try and keep things fresh.Update: Changed to 2 stars. It’s weeks later and they still haven’t emptied it from the first filling. It was the most expensive toy I got and turned out to be a waste of money. The quality of the product seems good. Maybe if you had smaller chickens with smaller beaks they could get it to work for them. Or maybe our worms are too big to come out easily. Either way – it just didn’t work for us.
