Yes, it really does work; a very nice ice cream scoop
OK, so, right off the bat I need to say that, no, this ice cream scoop is not magic. It will not make scooping hard ice cream like putting a hot knife through butter. It is not DRAMATICALLY better than a scoop that has less heat conduction than the aluminum and refrigerant construction. I once read about an ice cream scoop that had an insulated handle with a hollow interior, into which you would pour boiling hot water, plug it up, then use right away on the ice cream. Now THAT scoop was probably very much like using a hot knife on butter (or on ice cream, anyway)! I don’t know if it’s still made or not, but I wouldn’t be interested even if it was, as it would be too much trouble to have to charge the scoop with very hot (or near-boiling) water every time you wanted to use it. But, anyway, the point is that if you are expecting something like that, you will not find it here in this Zeroll Original Ice Cream scoop. However, that said, I have to tell you that after we got this scoop, my wife asked me if I had turned down the temperature of the freezer because she found it noticeably easier to scoop out ice cream! I had not, of course, altered any of the settings on our fridge (and we do keep the freezer quite cold–the hard ice cream is definitely HARD–hence the reason I bought this scoop). So, yes, this scoop really does work. It really does make a difference. It’s just not a dramatic one. And, for it to work, you need to scoop out your ice cream a bit on the slow side. If you try to dig it out of there at top speed, you probably won’t find this scoop to make much of a difference and will just be annoyed at not being able to run it through the dish washer. But if you take a reasonable amount of time, and let the heat transfer do its thing, you will find it to be noticeably easier to scoop out your hard ice cream from the container. And the same goes for getting a ball of ice cream to release from the scoop: it may take a few seconds to fall off–but fall off it will; you just need to have a little patience.Beyond the heat conductive design, the ergonomics of this scoop are really great. It’s made just so. The handle is a lovely size and shape; the scoop is a lovely size and shape; it allows you to create near perfect balls of ice cream, if that is what you desire. The aluminum is nice and shiny, although it does scratch easily (being aluminum). Of course, by the same token, it will also polish back up easily if you need a mirror finish on all your kitchen utensiles. We keep ours sitting out in a utensile jar on the counter and it looks great. The only thing I will say on the “con” side of things is that I wish I had gotten the next larger size (the 16-green one) than the one I got (the 20-gold one), as a slightly larger ball would look better on top of a sugar cone. However, it’s not a big deal and the 20-gold 2 ounce scoop makes a large enough ball to work just fine with the standard sugar cones.

Best Scooper I’ve Used, People Can’t Read
Hands down the best scooper I’ve used, despite what some might say about it (See second paragraph). It easily takes scoops out that can be compared to places like Baskin Robins in terms of uniformity with little effort. If it’s a particularly solid block of ice cream, I’ve ran the scoop under hot water for a few seconds before digging in. Works like a charm every time. It feels solid and well put together in the hand, which really just helps justify the slightly added cost over scoopers made by other companies. Now some people have rated this very poorly, I’m talking 1-2 stars for usually the same reason. It’s not dishwasher safe, the coating the use rubs off with the harsher conditions dish washers subject dishes to. Despite the fact that it’s mentioned multiple times on the product page, twice on the box, and again in the paper slip that’s packaged with the scoop, people still put it in there. The fact people are so lazy as to not spend the 5 seconds it takes to rinse it off, dry it, and put it away is sad. If you’re looking for one that’s dishwasher safe, look for a Chinese made scooper that’ll break in a few years, but if you want a high quality made in America scooper look no further. I’m quite happy with it and will be ordering more as gifts come Christmas time.

I love this thing
I was worried about ordering a food grade item with liquid in it, but Iâm so happy I did. This scoop is probably the highest quality I have ever owned. Itâs got a little heft and weight to it, which actually is designed to help provide a smooth and easy use. I have found that the ice cream does not stick too the scoop as the design sends heat from your hand to the scoop and that creates a subtle melting effect without having a bowl of milk as a result. The scoop is extremely easy to clean.. it must be hand cleaned to prevent the dish washer from affecting the fluidâs temperature and causing expansion and leaking. I usually just spray some dish soap on it and rinse it right when Iâm done using it. I then dry it off and put it away, which only takes about 30 seconds of time. Overall the design of this scoop is fantastic.

Love this scoop
Works like it says, it uses heat from your hand to keep the scoop warm and functional. I’ve broken many grocery store ice cream scoops trying to scoop hard frozen ice cream, this one is built well enough that even if it didn’t have the conductive heat feature, it would still be a top notch scoop. Get some ice cream! Now if I can just figure out how to scoop the ice cream with out getting all sticky. No matter how hard I try, both hands, my hair, and most of the kitchen end up sticky when I scoop ice cream.

At last an ice cream scoop that works
An ice cream scoop that works, effortlessly scoop ice cream from the container with ease and little effort. Highly recommend the ONLY reason it gets 4 stars is because it is NOT dishwasher safe.

Classic design, can’t be beat
I bought one of these about 25 years ago. It unfortunately took a ride in the dishwasher which dulled the finish, and I decided to get a new one, which I hoped would be as good. It is.These catch the ice cream and curl it into a ball as you drag the scoop across the surface of the ice cream, and the ball drops easily into your bowl (or cone). It works wonderfully even when the ice cream is frozen hard and other scoops and spoons won’t work. The Zerol 20 is simply a classic perfect design. Buy one! HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

Works wonders
It glides through ice cream like butter where as my old scooper would struggle to make it through at all. So easy to use and even easier to clean. It makes scooping ice cream so quick and easy and the scoops themselves come out so nice. Definitely made to last so you won’t have to worry about it falling apart on you if it were to be dropped or anything. Solid scooper.

This thing doesn’t look special at all, but don’t let that fool you. It works REALLY well and is built like a tank. I’ve tried scoops with triggers, they all suck (trigger breaks, handle bends, etc). This thing scoops and releases with ease, its like magic.Seriously, just buy the thing. Its the last scoop you ever need. Its perfect in every way except the no dishwasher thing, but that’s a small price to pay.
