Imagine the anxiety of not knowing where your beloved pet is for almost two months. That’s exactly what the Tapia family went through when their cat, Arlo, disappeared for 55 days. The emotional journey they endured culminated in overwhelming joy when they finally found him. The video of their reunion is sure to tug at your heartstrings!
As reported by Newsweek, Arlo’s adventure began last July. While the Tapia family was traveling, they left their cat and dogs in the care of a friend. One evening, that friend couldn’t make it and asked her sister to step in. During this time, Arlo managed to slip away and went missing.
The family was devastated upon hearing the news. Amy’s daughter immediately reached out to their community on Facebook, hoping someone might spot their missing feline. Many neighbors did see Arlo roaming around, but no one could catch him. As days turned into weeks, their concern grew deeper.
“We would get our hopes up when he was seen, and then a few days would go by, and we would get very worried if it was very hot out or if we heard other animals in the distance such as coyotes,” Amy said.

Their perseverance finally paid off when they lured Arlo into a trap using tuna. Although he had lost a lot of weight, the relief of finding him alive and unharmed was immeasurable. Amy captured the heartfelt moment of their reunion, where her daughter couldn’t hold back her tears upon seeing Arlo again. “After countless trap set ups, sightings, and losing hope, we got our boy this morning!” Amy wrote in her caption.
We’re overjoyed that this family reunited with their cherished cat. Arlo is now back where he belongs, surrounded by the love of his grateful family!
