Iâm using this pole to hold a bug zapper. I wondered if it would stay upright without tilting. About a week after purchase a storm hit producing 20 minutes of 70 mph sustained wind. I figured the bug zapper & pole wouldnât survive. The zapper swayed wildly but the pole never moved an inch. Highly recommended!
THE AVG PRO –
Inconsistent Product (Update?)
First, I want to note that I received 2 different versions (ordered 3). One of them seems to be an update which requires less manufacturing on their end (missing the welded nut and wing nut hole is now threaded). I will refer the black winged nut as the âprevious modelâ and the zinc looking hardware as the ânewer modelâ. I do not know the variations, I am assuming based on the quality. The previous model seems cheaply assembled. Poor weld and the screw already came rusted. It seems to be coated with the same coating as the pole itself. Since it was coated after being screwed on, it didnât protect screw holes. I donât believe it will affect its ability to hold. The screw was short which meant the threads barely went into the hole. That could be a potential problem. The new model looks cleaner since there is no welded nut and it has zinc coated hardware. As I said before, it will most likely not affect the ability to hold. Screws were much longer allowing more threads into the hole for a sturdy attachment. The instructions do state that this pole should not be installed in soil with rocks. I didnât see that in the descriptions which should be added if it hasnât already. Being that Iâm in AZ (hard rocky soil), I will test it and update my review in the future. The previous model has thinner stakes as well by nearly .4mm which isnât much. I only noticed because it did feel a bit more sturdy. It felt a bit heavier as well. There were no other differences between the two versions. Both had the same issue as stated by other reviewers. The holes are all in a line. Photos and instructions imply they should be staggered to look like a cross or âXâ. It says to install the winged screw into the hole but that would be impossible since the holes line up causing them to collide with the stakes below. Also, the holes are a few inches apart so the stakes would be too far apart. In order to create the cross, I screwed the top stake through the hole as indicated. Once tighten all the way, it leaves it wobbling since itâs an open hole with no threads. I put the bottom stake screwed against the hole to ensure itâs tight. My theory is that the top stake through the hole will keep the bottom stake from sliding up the pole when pounded into the ground. Once again, not indicated in the instructions or pictures. The pole seems sturdy, not too light, and I believe it will hold up well if inserted into the ground as directed in the instructions, based on your soil type. All the poles at my local store were shorter, much cheaper feeling, less stakes, and costed more. Iâm all for shopping local but it feels as if you are being taken advantage of (products were not made in the U.S. either).I will update on longevity after a few months but I believe itâs a good product for the price. If I received the same item in my order of 3, they all had the zinc fasteners, thicker stakes, and proper holes to ensure no wobble, I would change my rating to 5 stars. 4 stars is still good.

Holes not drilled right
There are two ground stakes that are supposed to be attached to the bottom of the pole. Based on instructions and pictures theyâre supposed to be opposite each other. But the holes are only on one side of the pole so you canât stagger them.

Sturdy Hook for Yard
Purchase this to hold the birdfeeder. We had to finagle it a little bit, but it worked and it has held up even through some rough storms. Would recommend.

Although I thought that it would be too high (purposely didnât put in one connector just to go back and put it in).It is perfect to view the hummingbirds feeding along with the bumble bees chasing them ð. I would recommend. It is sturdy and easy to assemble. Just make sure to follow the recommended depth based on your soil when putting it in. I will buy another one for sure !

Good product and solid, even when I had to use my weight to drive it into the ground. The only odd things is the way the ground spike are aligned, one sits about 1.5cm higher then the other – so doesnxt sit flush into ground

I don’t recommend this product. Shortly after the return window had closed, the product was bent during a windy day. I had a tube bird feeder on it at the time, and it wasn’t completely full. I’d estimate that it weighed 2 lbs. The listing says the product is capable of holding 18lbs, but clearly it is not.

Love it. This is one of the only shepherd’s hooks like this I found that is as tall as I wanted it! But it can also be made various shorter heights by leaving pieces out. Easy to assemble. You just stick it into the ground once assembled. However, you should note whether the ground is rocky or soft, because the additional bottom spikes can be attached lower or higher, depending. (It comes with clear instructions about that.) You should also note that the higher you choose to make it, the less weight it can take. BECAUSE SCIENCE.
