Fits dog well and seems sturdy
I’ve bought several NRS products and they have yet to disappoint. This dog PFD is no exception. Highly recommend.

    Amazing Quality PFD
My dog ranger is a 95lb golden retriever who is a water lover! I have been trying to get him more involved in water hobbies that I love so when I needed to purchase a PFD I had to purchase an NRS one. I trust my NRS life jackets so I had to get Ranger the same brand. It is quality made. Easy to grab handle to hoist your dog up and has an attachment loop for the leash on top of the PFD. Good shoulder mobility clearance for when he is swimming and has very sturdy buckles. Ranger was comfortable in it and it helped keep him safe on white water rapids to easy float days on the lake and river. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have a small pocket on the outside to store things, but that isn’t the biggest deal. It is a phenomenal product and worth the investment!

    Best Pet CFD
It’s a NRS vest; never had a bad one. Fits my boy a little big now, but I knew that when I ordered it. The orange should make it easy to see him in the water!

    Perfect fit
Omg so hard to know what size to get sometimes w a small/medium dog. I bought both sizes and The small is perfect for our beagle/jack russel terrier 20lb girl. The medium would be great for a dog w a larger torso maybe like a smaller pitbull or larger Australian shepherd

Fit well, doesn’t offer much floatation
I’m no expert, but this doesn’t seem to offer much floatation. The small fits well on our 45 lb husky, but it doesn’t seem like it would offer much floatation, especially in an emergency.

    Excellent dog pfd
I purchased this directly from NRS (but am in no way affilliated with them) after trying several different brands of dog ‘life vests’. Honestly I was starting to think they are a bit gimmicky overall because there is no kind of coast guard certification or standard for flotation involved with canine life preservers. So, a brand can basically slap some foam and fabric together and call it a life vest.I will not name any other brands I tried, but I will say there were major design flaws with them. Belly bands that did not cinch properly, straps that released with the slightest pressure, tiny bits of foam on the chest to supposedly help keep the dogs head above water, and so on. They looked kind of cool, but thats about all they had going for them. On my 100+lb dog, they might have given him some extra bouyancy but not enough to really assist him in an emergency, and very few even sized up the foam with the size of the dog – which makes zero sense. Finally, we turned to NRS, because they know flotation. If nothing else, the brand is an expert in human PFD for sport and recreation. They know how to design and manufacture a device that your human life may actually depend on, so why not your dog’s? When I saw they produce the CFD (canine flotation device) I thought, who better to design a comfortable and safe flotation for my active brute of a dog?The difference between products was night and day! The NRS CFD is a great color (I like the bright orange/red one just as much) – high visibility on the water, and even, purely by chance matches our SUP. The fabric is heavy duty and sturdy – I am not at all worried about it snagging and ripping with normal use as our dog bounces around on the banks. At first, he balked a bit about the big contraption slipping over his head, but he trusts me, so it wasn’t too hard to convince him. After that, its a simple matter of adjusting the straps to fit your dog. The sleeves and attachment points for the straps are genius – no worries about having straps flapping around his legs, tripping him or tangling. The vest did not loosen whatsoever after several hours of wear, in and out of the water. In fact, once he wore it for a few minutes, he completely relaxed, as if it was very comfortable. It did not seem to restrict his movements in any way – I love the way the individual foam pads are seamed for flexing with the dog’s body, while also themselves flexible, not bulky or stiff. But the truest testament to the quality of the vest was how our dog swam and swam in it. Typically he is a little shy about going where his feet don’t touch, but not at all with this vest. He easily paddled around. Once when he made a bad step on the SUP and fell off, he popped right back up to the surface in a blink, a little wet and stunned, but no worse for the wear. When we loaded back up to head home, he comfortably sprawled in the back of the vehicle, still in his vest, as if he wore nothing at all. That is why I am leaving this review on Amazon, and maybe it will be pulled. But if it helps someone decided from all the multitudes of pfd’s for dogs on the market, if someone who genuinely is concerned that their dog might find itself in an on-the-water emergency wants a pfd that will last, will be comfortable, and will provide much-needed bouyancy to their dog, the NRS CFD is an excellent choice. And its absolutely worth the couple extra dollars compared to many other brands.

The canine flotation device appears to be very well built the way the straps adjust and tuck up inside the vest and don’t dangle is a very nice feature. The vest fits my golden retriever a little generously (Size Large), but at 6 months old, she still has some size and weight to put on.A word of caution though, if you attach a leash to the D-ring on the town of the vest, the dog can back out of the vest entirely by backing up vigorously. If you have a nervous or easily startled dog, don’t rely on the vest’s D-ring as your sole attachment point. My dog was a bit reluctant to let me put the vest on her, especially when I slip her head through the front of the vest, she bucks a bit, like a horse trying to shake a saddle for about 30 seconds when the vest went on the first time. Once it’s been on for a few minutes she seems to forget she’s wearing it – a good sign that it’s comfortable. The ample flotation foam provides a comfortable mattress-like pad for when she lays on the boat floor. I would recommend this unit to any one wanting a good serviceable vest. I would buy it again myself if I had another dog.
