The Spreader Bar is the key to an effective design and serves 2 main functions:
It keeps the net spread out and ensures the air doesn’t “bunch up” the net. This allows air to pass through easily.It keeps the net away from the sharp edges of your vent damper flaps. Not only does this allow for frustration-free damper operation, but it also ensures that the net lasts as long as your vent does.
How It Trappened
In the early 90s, my Dad (seen here beating out my brother and I for who could wear their hat the tallest) invented a vent basket but it never saw the light of day. He paid a patent company like you see on TV and never heard anything back. We were lower middle class at the time so the funds to fight back weren’t there.
Now in my 40s, I had forgotten about that product until after I had created a product of my own out of a personal need (SEAL360 Magnetic Vent Covers). It jogged my memory about his product and I knew what I had to do.
Although this product is simple, the simplest designs are the best ones. As a small kid, I could remember my father doing simple and creative things (he once made a disk behind my pedal tractor where the disk blades were made from 1 gallon ice cream bucket lids). Not much has changed since that photo was taken. I’m still wearing hats and now I’m teaching my daughter how to build and create things just as my father did with us.

Perfect Fit
Exceeded expectations. Best of the options I have looked at. Others donât have spreader bar or install differently. These install to the vent cover and not the hole in the floor. Vents are flush with the floor and no excess material outside the vent cover. Already catching dirt after installing a couple days ago.

They ugly, sewing is sloppy; with that said they work well & fit great. So I think the price is a little bit higher than it should be but overall it’s not bad. Look for them on promo if you can find that or the “lowest price in 30 days or whatever”.
